So.

I’m not sure how I feel about the ending. Probably need to sit on it a while to see

The first 3/4 of the movie are so good and tense even though it’s playing it obvious how sketchy things are.

The last fourth doesn’t have a twist per say more so I was tired of Hugh Grant’s, Mr Reed’s smug intellectualism disguise.

The two actresses and Grant were fantastic.

I’m not a huge horror buff to compare but it definitely reminded me of Midsommar and Get Out in terms of mundane horror.

Just watched this. Wasn't so much horror than a theological exercise

Movie felt like somebody asked AI to write a movie based on TLR skeptics/atheist talking points. I enjoyed the ladies but Hugh Grant was not good to me. Glad I saw this in the theatre because I would have turned this off at home. This was ok but nothing special. Especially having to suspend belief at several parts.

I only realized 24 hrs later one interpretation of the ending

Reed got killed by a miracle. Paxton believed in Barnes’ words to challenge him after she died. Barnes resurrected to save her.

The year 3030
interesting flick. would i classify it as a religious film? I don't think I'd go exactly that far. But the discussions within the film were good

when they talked about control, reminded me what I read about the OG Speak no Evil (and to an extent the remake) and how people "humor" people with their beliefs and/or actions as not to offend them or come off as a$$holes

ending got me...did not expect Sister Paxton to temporarily resurrect to kill Hugh Grant

I was lowkey hoping for the matrix angle and they'd wake up and it was all a simulation :mjlol:

Saw it on friday, enjoyed it. Once it got to the 3rd act tho I feel it tapers off.
I was legit expecting some supernatural/eldritch shyt in the third act, thought that's what it was leading to with the prophets and simulation talk.

You could definitely tell Hugh was having fun as Mr. Reed :skip:

I figured she was just unconscious from blood loss. But that makes more sense considering the whole butterfly landing on the hand at the end

yeah I thought that too. But between the fact he cut her arm open and she had the strength to swing that wood(three nails Jesus plus the Trinity).

there were so many people walking around with stab wounds at the end I didn’t realize the symbolism.
