well I didn't read most of this thread but I would have problems with something like this becoming generalized too and I assume so would most of the anti-mowgli ranters

at least they're a straight porn shop so there's no confusion about what's going on there
but even the actual form is reminiscent of their subway groping problem and otherwise just shows some awkward social dynamics

also I would hesitate to say this is "japanese culture", much of what leaks over from japanese tv and other places there on the internet can misrepresent what people "over there" are really like

I might have problems with it becoming generalized, yes, but insofar as I am ok with prostitution being legalized despite my general aversion to the still-patriarchal social context in which it would take place, I'm honestly not sure what the key differences between the two are.

Also, for better or for worse, this is indeed "Japanese culture." The culture of sex, especially among younger people, can look very, very alien to people from elsewhere, and in fact the Japanese government does its best to hide said culture (by doing things like legally banning all foreigners from brothels and erotic institutions,) but from what I understand (one of my best friends lived in Japan for 4 years immersing himself and teaching English, and is an anthropologist with a focus on the country to boot) things like this are not exactly outside the norm.

yeah that's why I said that the fact that it's an unabashed porn channel makes me more comfortable with it, I'd have problems if such an event was taking place in a more blurred context (e.g. grope our nurses to raise money for the hospital!)

Yeah, when the end result is lower rates of prostitution and all the negative issues associated with it, like stds, rapes and other abuse, drugs, etc, I'm for it. You want to take it off the streets- this is exactly the way to do that. Any other way, it's going to be on the streets forever.
