I can see why Floyd feels this way. Longevity and his willingness to give his all to the sport. The three o' clock in the morning workouts, the never ballooning in weight, almost always fighting people with severe weight advantages...Mayweather UD12 has to be the surest bet ever in sports when the game/match/fight isn't fixed. Even MJ was puffing blunts while Floyd has a maniacal approach to his body and staying in shape. Floyd's placing of historical context comes with caveats of course but at the age of 37, even the best of the best had fallen off or were long gone. Also, the glamor division has always been at heavyweight. If you would have told any of these pundits from Bert Sugar to people at the Ring (pre Oscar) 20 years ago that a 37 year old defensive-minded welterweight would be the highest grossing athlete, forget boxer and people from all weights would have had at least a thought of moving up or down to fight him, they would have looked at you like you were fukking crazy. Floyd changed the game and all of the above is something that I believe he is acknowledging. Floyd isn't the most articulate when it comes to this and he's very insecure. However, what has been done has and will continue to speak for itself. Its damn near impossible for his resume to match his talent and yes, he has cherry-picked a bit in his later years but he's cherry-picking champions and #1 contenders. Think fast, who the fukk did Danny Garcia just fight again? Floyd is different, inside of a ring, there isn't a fool alive that will debate the talent.
