Just finished watching this with the Wife. Have pretty much ran through all the main screeners (American Hustle, Wolf of Wallstreet, Prisoners, 12 Years a Slave) and about to watch Dallas Buyers Club.
Honestly if someone tried to explain HER to me before telling me the actors I probably would have been like "
" but Joaquin paired with Scarlett just made this shyt work.
Can't believe I actually felt for dude the way I did. When he couldn't reach Samantha, followed by her giving him the "numbers", I could actually feel the soul being ripped out of him. Ending was as expected... not sure where else they could have gone with it anyway. Joaquin played that loner role extremely well, and Scar-Jo's voice acting as the AI had a great natural charm to it.
Must say, after reading some of the comments I'm curious how this thing would have looked in proper non-screener HD (ie: theatre
). The environments looked very cool just on this rip as it is. The movie in general felt like the 70s (attire) but with slighter advanced modern technology. Were some of those backdrops actually LA? Or CGI? Looked great either way.
Definitely worth a watch if you have the time, as it's an interesting concept that I'm surprised worked as well as it did.
I'm still
@ those videogames that were being played. The first one with the lil green guy that punks Joaquin
, and the housewife one Amy Adam's character was messing with.
