It wasn't even like dude was a made guy either. He was completely dispensable.

I think he was a good earner and fairly low key, so most families aren't so quick to clip those guys without a pretty good reason.

Still, Henry's snitching gave us one of the greatest mob movies ever, so RIP Hill you will be missed.

Yea, but it was easier to get rid of him since he wasn't bounded by blood. He could of brought in all the money in the world to the family and still would been an associate because he wasn't a full blooded Italian.

True, very true. Although reading about being a "made" man seems to have more negatives than positives. The only real positive being you can't be murdered unless an okay is given. So you can still be murdered but now there's just a process.

Kind of has a point...if I saw a woman get beat in the street, I'm not gonna stand for it and just allow to be. I wouldn't snitch but I would definitely handle the situation where he wouldn't be beating on anyone in my presence ever again.

Yea, because Scorsese couldn't have made a great mobster movie from another era or from a different mob family all together. :mjpls:

Dude could of made a movie about The Gambino family, specifically The DeMeo crew.

It really goes to show that the Italian Mob in America has been dead for over 20 years now.

If they were still popping u better believe Henry Hill wouldn't be on Howard Stern. His ass woulda disappeared one day to never be seen again.

But yeah Goodfellas is classic. I read in an interview about a part of the Henry Hill story they left out. Apparently Henry killed 3 different guys while he was a wise guy.

I can't believe he lived to be that old tho. After his lifestyle and all the shyt he has done(alcohol/drug abuse) dude shoulda died 30 years ago. I guess he was lucky.

But the Gambino Family didn't have a real snitch to make the story work on that level and the classic shyt from De Niro and Pepsi just immortalized it in any way you want to slice it up.

With the way things are now the feudal nature of the organization is almost impossible to stay in the shadows like it did back in it's day.

I think most of the power that the mafia has is in prison and street gangs now.

Yeah, some of them must still be around but they are nothing like what they used to be. At one point they had America by the balls now a days they struggle to make ends meet.

I wouldn't know cause I'm not from the US but I'm a big fan of Mafia movies, documentaries etc, and that's how it comes across.

The drug captains in Mexico are the ones living the life these days but that's all gonna come crumbling down if they keep acting like rogue cowboys with all of those massacres. They haven't angered the great powers to be on the right level...YET.

I saw a documentary about Ciudad De Juarez. They say its the most dangerous city in the world and its right next to El Paso Texas. Right across the US border.

The Cartels are the ones that have that kind of power these days. That's the kind of power the Mafia had from the early 1900s up until about the late 70s.

Yes they did. Dominick Montiglio was an associate and nephew of Gambino Capo Nino Gaggi who oversaw Roy DeMeo and his crew of murderers. He was around all of those dudes and dropped a dime on his uncle, the DeMeo crew, which led the indictment of Paul Castellano. He was just on this discovery channel show called Outlaw Empire by Kurt Sutter, talking about his exploits with The Gambino Family.

My early ventures into power gain and controlling my surroundings came from my studying of Lucky Luciano's rise to prominence in the 1920s and 1930s. He is the pioneer for American organized crime and making a commission out of it. A true genius of his time.

How far did that go though? It took tapes and their own inward destruction that led to their downfall. A good mob lawler can refute most of the shyt a snitch trys to c/s without proper dates and proven transactions...books...murder sites. It all has to add up because he's the lowest kind of witness to have for the prosecution.
