I’m predisposed to cheer heels…always been like that…I was all set to cheer Heel Hollywood/Corporate Cena when he walked out looking like money …next suit or something slick and stylish…Hair slicked back like Pat Riley or Gordon Gecko…looking like someone that actually sold out

Instead it’s the stupid ass jorts and hat and silly ass music…I still hate him :francis:

I guess that’s the point, but I’m gonna REALLY hate if that’s all they do with his character
Cena has said before that if he turns heel he's leaning all the way into it. He's not going to be one of those edgy heels that caters to smart fans. He looks committed to being a whiny pathetic character and imo maintaining the look and theme was a stroke of brilliance. He does not want an ounce of likeability.

My only qualm is that the motivation just doesn't seem believable. After 20+ years of "love me or hate me at least you showed up" I find it hard to believe that he finally reached his breaking point. Imo it would have made more sense if he was motivated by the fans choosing Cody and discarding him.

..I wonder how more believable it would've been if Cena didn't turn heel until WrestleMania. A whole build up of Cena realizing the crowd prefers Cody over him, along with rock getting in his head about it... The opportunity was there.

"I really wanted to tweet, 'I see nothing wrong with what he's saying.' I see nothing wrong with it because everybody has been in that situation, and I understand where he's coming from. People are ungrateful. You do one thing, and one minute they praise you; you do the next, and they boo you. So it's like, I'm not here to please you. I had a purpose before you had an opinion at the end of the day. If you don't like that, talk to your mama about it because I ain't got the time," said Parker. [25:50-26:13]

I think the story they should tell is that since this is his last chance, he finally realized the fans can't do anything for him and the Final Boss is the best chance he has to get #17. He didn't really touch on that at all yesterday but there's still time to get to that obviously.

The motivation makes sense to me.. I feel like he could have laid it out better in the promo. Like he was trying to tell the story but I didn't feel like he did it that clearly. But it makes total sense - in his prime they always cheered for someone else over him. HHH, HBK, RVD, Punk, Brock, The Rock.. in almost every single one of Cena's big prime main events the audience was cheering for the heel over him. It was only when he stopped being a full timer that the fanbase gave him his flowers.
