I understand that, but you need to give the guy a chance to defend himself. It was as if the ref was planning on running in there as soon as Smith hit the ground. Give him 2 or 3 more seconds. If he's getting pounded out, that's enough time to see it and step in before real damage is done (hopefully).

"Real damage" can occur from one unprotected shot. I hear y'all tho man. I wouldn't wanna be a ref
