Players know that. Even if they are a team full of ‘yes boss’ players they still hear that and it’s off-putting. Saying it’s ‘effort’ also implies they think they’re the better team. Body language of some guys at times made me think they’re getting frustrated or they’re not fully enagaged.

I don’t love Malone’s approach of calling out guys the way he does in the media but that’s who he is and what he’s been doing. If you’re a guy that takes exception to what he’s saying just play better. Folks are in the fukking Finals. I can’t imagine players who have dreamt about being on this stage their whole life would allow anything a coach would say to throw them off their game. But I guess we’ll see.

Caleb Martin was the best heat player vs the celtics and Jimmy has been absolutely horrendous vs the denver nuggets. This are facts whether you like it or not

I guess we just have a difference of opinion on whether they were ‘busting their ass 100%’—I saw it in 4K regarding the complaining, exasperation, frustration, etc

My guess is that there are some in that locker room agreeing with Malone’s assessment

I think it’s on coaches and players to hold each other accountable especially around giving effort but I think it’s best they not do that in the media

Also no reason to get super negative—the series is tied 1-1, a lot to learn from and build on
