A top 5 would be too cumbersome, but I can easily name five films better than Heat:

The Godfather (1 and 2)
Goodfellas
Carlito's Way
Casino
A Bronx Tale

And that's just keeping it to Pacino or Deniro flicks

Nothing ever filmed to date is gonna touch the genius of Godfather..sure it simulates the Genovese crime family and parts of what made Luciano the greatest of all time but that's just history. Everybody should have Godfather I and II damn near memorized.

Deniro was a real nikka. He couldn't let that beef slide, so I understand why he didn't go to the airport. i wish he did. But I understand he was wired different then most.

Me too. Those final scenes are hard to watch, when he sees Edie for a second and disappears when he realizes it's over, he hesitated for just that one second, and that may be why he ended up where he did.
