I thought he was West Indian but all his family from the Carolinas. I know people who've been in NY for 30+ years who still kept their country accent and their kids got it a lil bit and barely been there. It's the lingo they pick up that got the accent on it.

No doubt... but the point is... Whether the accent is put on or not, the day has come where that accent is accepted and even wanted. Years ago a NY rapper with southern roots rarely would go full Bowen Homes in their raps. Now it is OK. And thats fine with me.

Yeah word. Even then back then I always felt like the accent was over exaggerated especially what Raekwon and GFK was doing. Almost like they were tryna sound Italian a bit cause of the mafioso shyt. A lot of cats use to be embarrassed almost of their southern roots but now it seems to be the in thing now.
