expect to see a few news specials popping up proclaiming it to be the "new and dangerous drug epidemic that's sweeping the nation at an alarming rate".

It's called Krokodil because it causes your skin to become scaly and dry like a crocodile's. It then proceeds to cause your flesh to rot right off your bones. That's how powerful an addiction can get. And the youth of Russia are so hopelessly addicted to drugs that they're still doing it at devastating rates.

was looking at the wiki entry on this and

Supposedly Desomorpine has/is been produced by pharmaceutical companies in certain countries, and is "suppose" to be harmless as far as side effects, when used for pain. But it is very easy to produce from opiates (codeine), which is legal over the counter and easily attainable in many countries, so this Krokodile is made by a process using chemicals that are somewhat easy to obtain

So, a lot of freelance chemists out there, producing a drug using detrimental procedures, in unclean conditions, and contaminants galore.

Rather than pointing fingers at the West to deflect blame (like most will try and do), it seems that the best way to put a dent in it - in the sense of damage control - would be for the Russian gov't to make codeine users show Identification and sign for it, and have a limit on how much mgs an individual can obtain per month, just like the United States patent a program where people have to sign for one of the main ingredients used to produce methamphetamine (go....fukking..... figure), which is Pseudoephidrine (a decongestant with stimulant properties)
