I was glad that he lost, always been a fighter I loved to hate but let's not take away from Kovalev what a hell of a fighter he was as I see some posts trying to do that w picturing him as some kind of a "white hype".
Nah, he was a legit elite fighter who gave Ward his toughest fight ever where most observers had him as the winner. While I had 114-113 Ward and I think no problem with that score I can also see why many ppl gave it to Kovalev. If you rate Ward as high as I do you must not ignore that performance from Kovalev.
So let's give him his due credit, he had a hell of a run which probably came to an end now... I'd be surprised if he would pursue an immediate rematch in Canada. I read HBO has an option for Alvarez's next fight... I'd love to see him against Beterbiev but guess that won't happen then... instead of that it's gonna be him vs Bivol, also. a good fight or a Kovalev rematch

Dude held 3 of the 4 major titles in his division and really had no challenge until Ward and vast majority of people him winning that first fight, including Floyd Mayweather Jr. Kovalev was a terror for years and it took a A+ boxer to dethrone him. He managed to come back but after this KO lost his career is finished. Kathy duva cried herself to sleep tonight
Take a look back, what name on his resume sticks out? Pascal? That B Hop fighting lookin funny in the light. Like I said his career highlight reel will be KD Ward and putboxing him for a few rounds. Now we gonna remember him as the quitting (twice now) crying, excuse making, dude who killed a lesser fighter in the ring, and being a POS. Like I said kkkovs name will forever be attached to Ward. Ward made him quit and stole his soul.

This is why God is good.

All that shyt talking on JDJ and he got blasted.

Roy called this shyt in the 2nd or 3rd.

And HBO gotta hang it up their boxing is :flabbynsick:
Time to turn Lampley into glue he’s a caricature of the 2010 Lampley who was a fukking joke during the “BOOM. BOOM BOOM” era. I’d kill for that Lampley .

Why do all these eastern euros keep their front hand so damn low??? I know kkkov was trying to pick off the jab to the body, but it was very very low even for that. Bivol does the exact same thing. He’s not official in my book until he gets his chin checked for real.

One of my old co-workers grandfather is Russian. He was talking that shyt so I had to take that money.

Probably should have waved it off after the first knockdown.

Slightly, but I think the doubt crept in when Alvarez didn't wilt.
Bugging, Kov was obviously hurt on the first KD but he made it up to his feet in 4 seconds and was there, the 2nd KD is what knocked him senseless. If the ref waved that off after the first KD he wouldn't have made it out of that building alive.

Lampley's obsession with Compubox is annoying as fukk by the way

He's mentioning a Compubox stat like every minute

Compubox and other live punch statistics are not reliable. Someone is sitting there trying to count the punches live ffs... Boxing is not like soccer where a pass is a pass, a goal is a goal, a corner is a corner, etc... the actions can't be counted like that and even when they can much more context is needed to them

For example, if anything Compubox can give a more reliable data about punches thrown by a fighter (not landed) cause it's easier to count, less subjective but even then context is very important since there are fighters who throw a lot of throwaway punches while others throw a little to none throwaway punches and throw everything with power.

Lampley either fails to understand why Compubox is not a reliable source of data and why these punch stats in general can't be reliable by their nature or he knows and he deliberately wants to give the less educated viewers the false impression that boxing can be measured from multiple reasons ranging from that's what he was being told by HBO to him being so down with Compubox ppl.
