Am I the only that has the app default to subtitles? shyt is annoying.

I set my shyt to subtitles, because I watch everything with subtitles, but it shouldn't be doing that.

How are you watching? App on a phone (which OS)? Chromecast? Firestick? Something else?

Mine doesn’t do that, but the bugginess of the HBO app is its worst trait.

Maybe it’s an Apple TV bug? (Or rather a bug with how HBO implemented their app on Apple TV)


Try using the HBO app directly on a phone/tablet and see if it is still defaulting to subtitles.

Tried it on my iPhone. Same thing. Tried on it Android TV and it still defaults to subtitles.

I have to watch everything with subtitles as well because typically sound effects and music is much louder than the actually talking.

it’s messed up how HBO treating entourage. They weren’t going to even put it on HBO Max. It’s one of their best shows but there’s been pressure to disappear it because of me too and gen Z claiming it’s problematic.

don’t get me wrong it is but still one of their best shows.

Tried it on my iPhone. Same thing. Tried on it Android TV and it still defaults to subtitles.

I have the opposite issue with showtime app. I turn the subtitles on, and then it automatically turns off.

same shyt was happening to me on my Apple TV, it would do it then stop and a few days later do it again. So what I did was bring up the app on your phone, watch a episode of something, turn on the subtitles then turn them off, watch the episode for a few seconds, then go back to Apple TV and it should work fine.
Its annoying as hell, cause I turn it off and when a new episode starts they would pop up again, but it stopped now

I use Apple TV and don't experience any bugs with HBO. Matter of fact, the only streaming app that regularly freezes for me on there is YouTube TV.

Wait. Entourage isn't on HBO Max???

It is but HBO doesnt promote it and tried to bush it from its catalogue. Mostly due to Ari's characters treatment of his gay assistant Lloyd. Also #metoo doesn't like how the show portrays women . If were being honest the show should get as much fanfare as Sex and the city.

don’t get me wrong it is but still one of their best shows.

I haven't seen entourage in years. the movie was bad, but I loved the show. I think I'm gonna rewatch that one.

Had HBO thru Amazon but they killed that in September.

Have a Roku stick coming.

Already have Hulu.

Want to sign up with HBO Max, do you think going thru one is better than the othre? HBO Max thru Roku or Hulu?

I do have an older Samsung TV that I'm riding with till it dies so I can't get the direct HBO Max app on it, hence Hulu or Roku
