Collette Joins Firth In HBO’s “The Staircase”

Oscar-nominated actress Toni Collette has signed on to star alongside Oscar winner Colin Firth in the eight-episode limited series “The Staircase” for HBO Max and Annapurna Television.
Based on the true-crime docuseries sensation of the same name, along with various books and reports on the case, the film tells the story of American novelist Michael Peterson (Firth), his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his corporate executive wife Kathleen Peterson (Collette).
Writers Antonio Campos and Maggie Cohn will also serve as executive producers and showrunners on the series with Campos to direct six of the eight episodes.
Collette is coming off Netflix’s just-released astronaut survival thriller “Stowaway” and recently filmed Guillermo del Toro’s star-studded noir “Nightmare Alley”.
