No Whammies!!
For confused brehs, here's the rundown on the different ways you can get it as of today
IF YOU HAVE HBO THROUGH A CABLE COMPANY, YOU LIKELY GET HBO MAX
Though it’s the blurriest of WarnerMedia’s own explanations, prospective HBO Max customers should get access to the service automatically if they currently subscribe to HBO through a cable television provider.

WarnerMedia has announced partnerships with Altice USA (Optimum and Suddenlink), Charter Spectrum, Consolidated Communications, Cox Communications, Verizon Fios TV, and some independent providers under the National Cable Television Cooperative — and, of course, its own parent company, AT&T (which also owns DirecTV). Anyone who subscribes to HBO through one of those providers will be able to access HBO Max at no additional cost.

I've been ignoring everything about this since I'm not going to pay for yet another streaming service. But, if this means I'll get it free because I already pay for HBO through Fios, then I guess I should look into this.

They're probably pulling what they did with Disney+ and will wait until the very last min before they agree. All 3 should be a done deal by Tuesday but idk what's up with Comcast, they literally did this with WB recently

Universal & Warner Bros. Form Home Entertainment Joint Venture – Deadline

I used to be engineer for a cable company, so I am familiar with these 11th - 25th hr deals but something about this is still wild confusing. maybe this was answered here before, but what happens to HBO NOW subscribers on Roku/FireTV on the 27th? if the deal is set, then the app will just update as I am sure it is already developed and ready but what if deal is not reached? reason why I am asking is because for those users, they may as well cancel now and just go with the pre-order deal to save the extra $3, even though they will have to find another way to stream it in the meantime outside of those devices.

My guess is if you already have the app downloaded you’ll be able to continue using it on those devices, but it’d not in their App Store for people that haven’t...that’s how it played out for ATT TV and roku at least...they recently came to terms and brought it back to their App Store so I think a Max roku deal is imminent

Good looking out even though that looked like a list on how to do your taxes as opposed to looking up a new streaming service. That said I'm certain I'm getting Max but at the same time what are these guys thinking with all these different variations out at the same time :mindblown:HBO has pretty much always been a network that has its shyt together no matter what.. even if they didn't have any hits out at the time.

I think this is all AT&T overthinking things. For most of HBO's existence they just had Time Warner execs overlooking them, now those execs have someone overlooking them.

All of the executive talk has them saying they want a curated service and don't want to have everything lumped together like Netflix.

Doom Patrol is still the only confirmed DCU Universe show coming to HBO Max. Who knows if/when other things might migrate over.

I'm still surprised they haven't said anything about Cinemax programming like Strike Back, Banshee, The Knick, etc being a part of the library. Would give exposure to really quality shows most people might not have seen and diversify their lineup, although Cinemax is basically a dead network walking after this year.

Mark my words.. they will either combine all of those into HBO MAX or they will go the ESPN+ route and do a bundle like if you get HBO MAX for $14.99 then you can get HBO MAX + DC Universe for like $18.99 or something like that.

Perhaps, that will be the case down the road. I thought it would be a no-brainer to have a tab for DC like Disney+ does with Marvel and just stick a bunch of content from animated series to live action there. :yeshrug: They certainly have the catalog to do so, even without the Arrowverse shows that are still tied up with the Netflix deal.
