Did HBO really scrap it or is it just in limbo at the moment? I'm surprised they haven't made it an anthology series aka True Detective yet.

AlI in all, I dunno......I had mixed feelings with The Night Of. The pilot was fukkin amazing, and I thought we were on the verge of something special until midway into the season where some wacky shyt started to happen.

shyt I thinking ended up turning out. I can't even remember what happened at the end of if I even saw it.

HBO seems to not "get" why GoT is such a blockbuster. You can't simply re-create it with some random spin off set in eras that will not feature dragons. The only spin off idea that would work very well IMO would be a Dance Of Dragons series. That way you give people what they want: more Targaryens, more dragons, more shocks (Blood & Cheese...), and more battles. Plus some palace intrigue and strong female leads. And because much of the story has been told in historical terms by Martin, there would be a big opportunity for HBO writers to flesh out characters and fill in a lot of blanks.

The spin off that's in development right now is based on the Age Of Heroes. Meaning we'll likely see Bran The Builder, Lann The Clever, etc...but no dragons. We'll see White Walkers apparently though. I just don't get the point.
