1. the data needs to be verified. all they did was make a video of that norwegian article - which itself stated that they didn't know if the company culling the data made any manipulations. one false query and you can pull in a bunch of erroneous shyt.
2. are they going off of paid subscribers or are they including the free trials in the 1.7m account number? 1.7m sounds pretty low for the amount of people that signed up during those album releases.. I would also think that tidal counts those auto-plays on their home page as streams

Tidal is the only streaming platform that's completely fabricating numbers. This is readily obvious for a few reasons. They never had the subscription numbers to match the alleged stream numbers for Lemonade/Pablo, the platform is dependent on attracting subscribers with exclusive content, and it's the only platform desperate enough to break laws like this.

If you want to talk about Spotify/Apple fukkery the path is clear: how do you calculate one stream? Does listening to a song for 20 seconds mean you've streamed a song once? Does pressing play on a song mean it immediately counts as one stream? How they determine what equals a stream is how the game gets played. But they have no incentive to outright fabricate streams. Especially Spotify given the issues they're going through financially. I'm sure labels would love fake numbers though because they get paid for it. The platform doesn't benefit from it.

End of the day, a whistleblower came forward and snitched on Tidal. This won't be pretty.

One more thing: for all the "black excellence" bullshyt talk, Hov is trying to sell Tidal. Another reason fake numbers benefit him. Being caught like this hurts his ability to sell, but let's not forget: for all the talk about ownership and all that Jazz, at the end of the day Hov is just a businessman. He was gonna sale and cash out. And all the black people who cheered him aren't getting a dime of that. His black excellence doesn't benefit you. Sure he sends some kids to college but he is not supporting black businesses or products - he just wants you to support his. Let's stop falling for the okie doke.

Based on what? And what's the incentive. Spotify just showed us how they "juke" numbers without actually tampering: the super promo Drake received. But while that may have been annoying, it wasn't wrong. Adding a few zeroes to your streaming number totals IS wrong.
