What made the show was kids crying in the audience after a green shirt wearing idiot didn't deliver on his guarantee and the roof blew off that place. Not anything to do with some cat from San Antonio who does hunting shows..I was in the parking lots with the rest of those motherfukkers from NY, England, Cali, Miami post WM....they were chanting Rocky nonstop and waving around those Team Bring It 24/7 shirts....like their team just won the fukking Superbowl:laugh: PURE comedy.

Just look at it for the reality of the situation...Taker vs HHH with no stips wasn't fascinating so they loaded it with Hell in a Cell and the DX angle of possibly screwing over Taker which wasn't gonna happen no matter what.

The addition of one million viewers per segment says you are wrong. :smugfavre:

The buyrate of WM 28 trumps any television goofy rhetoric that doesn't jack shyt today with ease though. The main event of WM 28 basically carried the WWE in 2012.

He stole the match, the match in itself stole the show. :hmm:

That match isn't something people are going to talk about forever like HBK v. Taker at WM 25, it didn't steal the show. I'm not sure if any match on the card did, closest is Punk v. Jericho.

So are you arguing HBK stole this match or the entire WM card? I'll give you the match, the entire card tho = :aicmon:
He is called the main event for a reason, he stole the whole show, HBK is an icon, in a ref shirt stealing mania from those so called"main event" guys. Think about it for a sec, he said the Rock tried to steal the spot light from Hunter, a shoot that went every-ones head for years. HBK better than the Rock and stole the show as a ref.

He was acting like a mental patient during the match, having a nervous breakdown for....a match with a predetermined outcome?

Obviously, everything is fake but how could you let yourself believe a ref is really this emotionally torn about counting 1-2-3?? Only situation this would work is some kinda worked shoot/fast count/screwjob angle which this wasn't

What did you want or expect from him? Of course he's gonna act like it's real, that's what his job is and he did it pretty well. He wasn't just a ref he was a man with a great deal of history with both men and the build up explained why he was so emotional and why he would be torn about counting 3. He didn't want Haitch to lose because of their friendship but he didn't want Taker to lose because it would confirm what Haitch said about being better than him. There was also the fact that, obstensibly, the match wasn't about him, it was about the other two and he wanted to be an impartial ref but he got dragged into it which, of course, contributed to his emotional state during the contest.

LOL @ thinking Hickenbottom stole the entire show.

People cared more about flabby & sick Dwayne than that cockeyed, overacting ref.

:merchant:

What's your point here?

If you think HBK 'stole the show' then didn't he just steal it from his best friend Hunter? The exact deed you think he is getting revenge on The Rock for twelve years later?

It's not that deep.

I'm not saying he didn't do a good job at what he was told to do. What he did wasn't enough/didn't add up to stealing Wrestlemania. Since when are we giving show stealing performances to refs who performed -AH- move?

I know that. HHH/Taker doesn't compare with that but for this card to me this had me the most invested in it. Punk/Jericho was a good wrestling match but the payoff should have been Jericho winning the belt.

Fair enough, I focused more on your criticism of his performance rather than the overall show stealing point but in regards to that, I think it's valid arguement from a certain viewpoint. The card wasn't great and what made the Rock/Cena match have any value was the crowd reaction. This came from the polarizing figures involved, Cena being disliked by hardcore crowds coupled with Rock's history and incredible charisma, neither of their performances in the match created that reaction, it was already there they just had to show up.

Haitch/Taker was a superior match but it certainly wasn't a 'showstealer' in and of itself. The difference between that and the main event, in terms of drawing the crowd into the match was Micheal's performance, had he not been there it wouldn't have become the drama it was, so if that was the best match on the card then he was the best performer on the card.

I don't agree that he stole the show, for that to happen we'd have to completely disregard the main event and call it a one match card, that won't happen because of what it was and what it meant, but his performance as a character and what he added to his part of the card, made him the mvp of the night imo.
