Let me put this out there first, I am an HBK fan. He is the best ever in the ring and very underrated on the mic IMO...but cmon...


To give him another WM moment with his role as REF is absurd

- He was the ref in a HELL IN THE CELL...so before the match happens, logically, its dumb

- At the end of the match, its clear he had NO real motive to wanting to ref the match in the first place He didn't do it to cost Taker, didn't do it to cost HHH, he was just...there...

- He was acting like a mental patient during the match, having a nervous breakdown for....a match with a predetermined outcome?

Obviously, everything is fake but how could you let yourself believe a ref is really this emotionally torn about counting 1-2-3?? Only situation this would work is some kinda worked shoot/fast count/screwjob angle which this wasn't

Just look at it for the reality of the situation...Taker vs HHH with no stips wasn't fascinating so they loaded it with Hell in a Cell and the DX angle of possibly screwing over Taker which wasn't gonna happen no matter what.

Because the selling point is the 2 decade long streak. Then add in the previous two years of Shawn not beating taker, and every Raw and Smackdown leading up to it if you actually watched it.

The streak sells itself, HBK didn't have a purpose in the match. If he tried to cost Undertaker or HHH the match OK. But he was just there to be a fair and down the middle ref?

And he stole the show by being emotional? Crying in a corner? Did you really like his form when he counted 1-2-3? The sound he made when his hand hit the mat? What am I missing?


I watched every Raw and was actually at the final showdown between the 3 in Philly. It was cool. I'm not bashing the storyline. But the term 'stealing the show' for a guest ref who was overly emotional? This is wrestling right, don't you steal the show by wrestling?
