This was EXACTLY what happened to me, except two factors make my situation worse.
A) I was put on in 2010. It was worth a fraction of a penny at the time. The market was so shady there was no "stock" to trade like how these apps have now, you literally had to just keep up with a string of characters that was supposed to be worth a damn

Being a 19 year old in 2010, I couldn't quite imagine how people would buy fake/virtual currency with real-world currency and it actually be a wise thing to do. To make matters worse, I'm from Chicago and somebody I thought was my dog set me up in a check cashing scam so I was really skeptical. If I never had gotten scammed I probably would have invested at least $50 in it (which, if you crunch the numbers, would equate to over tens of millions of dollars today)
B) had my boy been smart, he would have taken off and we would've been both straight. This wasn't just any friend, this been my ace since 8 years old. Even at 19, I'd already known him over half my life at that point. But he decided to cash out after he made a couple thousand off a $20 investment. He thought he came up like a mf and was talking cash shyt about it..
We try to avoid the topic of virtual currency
at all costs
these days...
