Have you matured past the ego-lifting phase as a lifter?

:mjlol: and people wonder why I don't touch machines(leg press)
That's an odd injury to get from leg press. Then again if your hammies aren't on point then lots of stuff can fukk with your hip/lower back region.

Machines are inferior :myman: forcing a range of motion like that. Cable stuff is cool otherwise I'll pass :ehh:

Its been scientifically proven that Ego lifting is inversely proportional to one's ROM... carry on though Imma let you half rep steppers cook them semi baked sets :mjlol:

I went from mostly ego lifts a couple years ago to wife and kid. Now just hoping I can get a full week in the gym where I hit everything I'm supposed to. I went from 230 to 170 in 2 years from serious lifter to pressed-for-time lifter.

Love this thread being young still but not being an ego lifter...

From like 15-17 I lifted purely for ego, impressing people, having heavy ###s in high school, etc, stupid ass shyt. It mostly rubbed off on me from fitness forums (bb.com/fitmisc/etc)

I just don't give a fukk about lifting like that anymore though... I go to the gym once, mostly twice a day because I love it... I love putting energy into it, being active with it. Same reason I only drink water and don't touch shyt like pop or milk(THAT often) it just feels natural for me to drink water, and i feel shytty as hell when i drink other shyt(notgoing to the gym)

i see all these stupid ass fitfags, zyzz wannabes and it makes me lol. yo lemme post up some half-nude ass selfies on instagram to prove to everyone how big i am

i got nothin to prove to anyone. lift for yourself, you'll love it a lot more... don't follow a training program either, just do what im feeling that day. it makes me feel free and happy when im lifting how i want to... shyt theres days where ill do mon/tue/wed straight up arms each day, not givin a fukk (Switchin between tris/bi's/delts/forearms/traps)

shhheit

i love lifting

and smoking

Yea on my last deployment i ego lifted wanted to lift a bunch of heavy weight and ended up messing up my shoulder but when i got back i took the time to focus on my technique and how many reps i did turned out for the better now i do every exercise for 10-12 reps

Lots of misguided people at the gym doing weight they can't handle with awful form and not doing full reps just to say they can lift a certain weight

its cool to go after max's like on the first set but you better be doing great reps with weight that you can handle in the 5-8 rep range with full range of motion after that

I pretty much lift for myself now. I've been doing more calisthenics than anything as of late, but I still mix in weights. That may make my lift numbers go down, but oh well. For the most part, nobody really cares what you lift unless you are in some competition. You might have guys crowd around you at the gym like, "Yo that dude can lift a ton!", but unless you're looking for male groupies, just lifting to throw up impressive numbers isn't something I find worth pursuing... unless it's something YOU just want to do to challenge yourself.
