I don't understand why people care about attendance of games.

Look how empty those arena/stadiums are. Think of how depressing it would be to be an athlete, dedicating your life to perform, playing in an empty stadium every night knowing people don't show up to see you because you/your team sucks.

Low attendance is one thing, empty stadiums are another.

You gotta remember too that low attendance can hurt cash flow which can hurt the team in terms of having revenue to get players. Thats why some teams can only build through the draft. Also if it's bad enough the team could be forced to relocate. It's all happened before.

Well, last NHL season, there was a really bad snow storm rolling into northern NJ/NYC area, a bunch of idiots gambled it and went out to see a NJ Devils game. Seriously, it was like blizzard conditions. Arena was pretty bare but the visiting team arrived before the storm. They played it as it was a televised game.

I wholeheartedly agree. However, they don't do it because it would be a self actualization of how bad there business model is.

To do something that charitable, they'd have to admit they failed.
