I remember as kids we used to camp in my backyard, me, my siblings and a few of our friends. It would always end with one us running back inside, or us all going in the house to sleep on the living room floor.

I’ve never been camping before, but I’d love to do it. Do the whole experience; fishing, campfires, pitching up a tent. We do rent a cabin up in north Georgia yearly; a group of close friends, my ole lady and I. The girls will cook, while the fellas are outside getting the fire started. We’ll drink and tell stories and reminisce about college next to the fire. It be cold as a bytch outside, too, but we still get in the hot tub as well.

Dont do it. It looks fun but its rough sleeping in a tent. I was so uncomfortable I slept in a hammock instead.

It's best to just rent a cabin and go fishing, hiking and other activities.

Once when i was 15 in the middle of summer:sadbron:. That muggy air did not go well with my asthma. My doctor at the time took 10, 12 of us. All black males. I hated it at the time but lookin back, im glad i did it

Yeah several times. The first was after 7th grade at Lake Comanche. I went with a all brehs group from school. The fukkery levels were:bryan:

The last time was back in 2003 in Lake Tahoe with my college cross country team. It was a camping/training camp weekend trip before the season. It was fun and the weather was perfect:ehh:

I was in boyscouts and went camping in ocala( I was the only black kid) and was feeling weird af

We went on a hike in the woods and next thing you know we got lost and ended up in the woods for 5 hours+ with bears, panthers, bobcats ,foxes and other stuff:mjcry:

This one white boy had a canteen that made a annoying sound every time we walked and I was scared and thought a animal would hear it ad come get us, so he fell behind and told me he had to use the bathroom and told me to wait but I left and didn't tell the pack leader because I was already mad at him for his canteen, so we ended up losing up and found him 15min later..then like an hour later we made it to a road and called somebody and we got help

I got like two badges for that , talked to some news people and I quit a week later and said fuk this webelos badge

Or been to summer camp as a kid? Friday the 13th has me thinking about it lol

Still do and it's something that all kids should do. Wish it was a bigger thing for Black folks. A lot of the most consequential/powerful ppl in this nation's history were scouts, many of them Eagle Scouts. To put that in perspective, less than 1% of males in the US attain Eagle Scout designation. Male millionaires represent at at least 3-4% of the total US population. You're 4 times more likely to be a millionaire than an Eagle scout.

Not outdoor camping but I have been to summer camps where you slept in a cabin. I would love to go outdoor camping and go hunting actually. If I had friends (black ones only), I would definitely go.

For some of you all that think that camping isn’t black, we have historic black summer camps that have been around for years that black families have been sending their kids for generations.

Thing is like everything in America once it becomes niche entertainment it becomes "premium-ized" and expensive.

This is what my issue is.

Some places you have to have a park permit which you pay for. Then you have to pay to camp $15-35 a night sometimes, then they hit you with trash/disposal fees, or charge for bathroom facilities with shower....like you really might as well just drive to a hotel for a night or two.

Then because of technology and capitalism camping has somewhat been b*stardized.

I know a cat. He brings a good tent, and dope ass sleeping bag, then an expensive ass tent mattress, has a tent liner and all this shyt.

I'll just use my tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, lighter, a cook pot and cut.

I have some fancy shyt and some comfort shyt too but some of the gear and gadgets is just too much. And it's expensive too.
