I believe Cody came out looking stronger after his loss to Roman. It was still a questionable decision and I won’t argue it but I feel like he would’ve flamed out as champion quickly. The Brock feud right after was perfect for him. It added more depth to Cody’s character which makes everything he says on the mic to the fans more legitimate. Brock putting him over was major. That’s the feud of the year for me.

Cody is one of the few wrestlers in the business that has a real genuine connection with the fans. He’s still over and the reactions haven’t waned so i think Cody is still in a great spot. He’s been booked very strong. Now if he don’t beat Roman or get that opportunity at Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania then theres a cause for concern.

Not really.

I had pretty unfounded high hopes for him at the start with AEW, but the whole "American Nightmare" schtick never got over with me - maybe it's just that I'm not American (although my girl's from Philly and she agrees) but it felt like he was trying to be some sort of MAGA Hogan/Stone Cold whilst dressing like Vince when he's not in the ring. It's all over the place and the bits that I do understand, I don't like in my 2023 heroes.

He's clearly in the right place for the gimmick now though - crowds are eating it up. I still don't get it, but you can't deny folk are having a good time yelling WOAHOH for him.

WWE have done a fantastic job with him all said.

I always said if all the bells and whistles he had on AEW were gone he was going to be solid and low and behold he’s been that.

Him walking with a whole entourage and his dog just came off obnoxious and heelish while being a whole babyface.

So, nah my opinion hasn’t changed. I saw this playing out right tbh :ehh:

I was always indifferent towards Cody, but those last two years of Cody in AEW were unbearable. It was up there with ABA Undertaker and mid-2000's Triple H. Now that we're not subject to that anymore, my opinion has gone back to being indifferent towards him.

Really playing the same version as himself as he was in AEW except it's a different audience and he can actually challenge for the title.

Think the real question is whether that title is the consolation prize (the belt Rollins holds) or the main title (Reigns title). I'm curious what WWE does since Roman will have eclipsed Bruno Sammartino for 4th longest reign by the Royal Rumble, and he'd jump Backlund and Hogan for 2nd longest reign in mid September 2024.

I didn't care about him during his first run when most people did. Then when he made his list and went to the Indies I cared more--definitely for me - even though alot of brehs find his gimmick corny, he's in my top 3 active wrestlers right now for people I pay attention to

I understand why he is over AF. I get it. He has good matches, solid worker, etc.

A fantastic B+, A- player with A+++ presentation.

But he hasn't gone through enough struggle for me to want to see him "finish the story."

It's alright to lose.

It's clear it's for Roman's title. If it were for the consolation prize, he is 3-0 against Rollins, including a HIAC match that he won with half a chest. There's plenty of ammo for him to go for the title. Seth, in kayfabe, is not on his level. The World Heavyweight Championship is beneath Cody, in kayfabe.

Wild.
