They are not the same, but they are highly correlated

They are correlated in the sense that if you take the GRE once and only once it could be an indicator of ones IQ, I'll give you that. But the OP can prep for the GRE, buy the books, take practice tests, go through practice problems and section tests.... his score will greatly improve, hence the reality that the GRE is no longer of any indication of his IQ

Just buy the books. I prepped on and off for 2 weeks. I say 2 weeks of prep is enough. I'm sure others will disagree.

How well did you do? :lupe: I'll prolly need a month, 2 jobs got my free time looking :flabbynsick:

Breh, it depends on what score you want and what score you get when you take your initial practice test and see where you stand. From there you will know how much you need to study and how long you see to study. Someone saying they study for 2 weeks or 2 years is irrelevant.

I did well enough to get into a PhD program.

I didn't take the test seriously at all. I even smoked weed the night before. It's really not as bad as everybody says. The math is dead ass simple. THe vocab can be tricky. I'll give @Public Enemies that. If you can memorize a million words, your vocab score will probably go up

I dunno about greatly, but yes, he should prep. I'm not saying that. These tests are aptitude tests, not comprehensive.

My nikka :what:

What does that mean without details? You get into a PhD program at Harvard or was it a state college? Because that's a NIGHT AND DAY difference. Also what was your GPA because it's all irrelevant without context

Well, I didn't go to Harvard. lol. I went to a state college. What I got has nothing to do with anything though, but I scored above average for the incoming class.

What really matters is looking at scores as a whole, across the population

I just erased my IQ and GRE. I don't need that out there.

My GPA was 3.96

Do you read a lot?

I'm telling you the math is easy as hell. The verbal is what's tricky. If you read a lot and have a good vocabulary, you're good

It was heavy with geometry and simple algebra when I took it. It was easy for real.

If you're not good at math, then you might need to study more. There are some tricks you can learn (especially with geometry)
