Has anyone had diversion or know someone who did it?

So I had a marijuana case and it looks like they want me to do diversion for a year and than they'll dismiss the case. I'm hearing a year which is really to go without weed . They also say the expense can be pretty high but it would prolly be less than what I would have gotten if I was found guilty for my charges.
