Times change .When did black men as a collective start caring about their hairlines? My dad has pics from his childhood in the 60s & 70s and EVERYBODY'S hairline was fukked up. My granny was a single mom to 6 boys & they only got haircuts the weekend before the start of the school year
I remember on some documentary show, probably Behind the Music, he was talking about his stepfathers abuse.
He said the wearing hats were connected to that. I cant remember his exact words but they're like a psychological pacifier for his trauma.
Also, he probably cant grow his own hair.
Uncle L can still rock the bells though.
There’s this story that back in the 80’s, LL and Russell Simmons had dinner at Bill Cosby’s house to discuss possible future business together or something like that. Of course, this is Bill Cosby, so he goes on his “In this house, we don’t wear hats at the table, and blah blah blah…” speech to LL.
So LL took off his hat…
Cosby: ”Put your hat back on”
And that was that.
I remember hearing somewhere that LL always wore a hat also because he was on that KD hair regimen, he didn’t give a fukk.
