I'm really not happy with America right now, and with the Fed printing unbacked money and spending millions on mortgage-backed securities that will ultimately lead to inflation and a whole new bubble to deal with; I'm trying to get the fukk out and enjoy the quality of life and stronger economy that Canada has at the moment.

I work as a web developer/programmer and have narrowed my choice to Vancouver. I plan to apply for some jobs and once hired apply for a work visa. After I obtain the work visa how long and hard[pause] is it to become a permanent resident?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Another motivating factor which is helping me decide to go to Canada was the first bubble that occurred; I was approved for way too much credit and lost my job which then forced me into a financial hole that saw my credit score drop from 780 to just under 600 in just under 4 years. I am now in the process of paying off all my debt(already have paid off 10,000 of the 25,000 i owe and have stopped using credit all together), but some of the negative marks that have occurred from my situation will be on there for atleast 5-6 more years which will effect me in every facet of life.

I know credit ratings in America don't follow you to other countries, so I want to obtain residency rather quickly and start fresh as i continue to pay off my American debt and then return once my negative marks have all cleared.

Thanks breh for atleast one serious reply haha. I don't know anyone in the real world that has done the move so I thought maybe my coli brehs could help.

How long does it take to become a citizen after obtaining the work visa? is it relatively easy?

Edit:
It takes three years, which means I can start financially fresh in 3 years as opposed to waiting it out 6 in America.

If you're serious you should be making phone calls and on Canadian Government websites.

There are literally a half dozen other countries I would live in first that are superior.

What do you do for work?

I just started mulling over the decision last night and am starting to research now; didn't think it was a bad idea to get advice from some everyday people before making any phone calls.

I was thinking about maybe Switzerland or Norway but I really don't feel like making a cross world move if I plan on returning. I also have a doberman pinscher and a cat which world make a flight only move way more difficult than a driving move.

I do web design/development/programming....I make 60k right now but my next job should be in the 70-90k range

Canada is great.... Vancouver is expensive to live in but awesome. Its pretty easy to fit in here. You might be shocked by the taxes tho...

Thanks I will be looking into that, much appreciated. I was checking homes/apartments for rent in Vancouver and they were cheaper than where I live now.

I feel ya breh that's one of the reasons I'm picking Vancouver. It's a coastal city so it stay warmer than most of Canada. I lived in NYC for a couple years and grew up in Indiana so I'm some what adjusted to the cold. But going from Miami to Canada now will probably be a shell shock to my body haha
