Word? I haven't heard Undisclosed, so I'll check it out. But Serial was a fun ride and some of the eps near the end are shorter, so you're at least halfway through. I'd finish it if I were you. The last couple eps aren't as good as the rest, but the first 9 or 10 were a crazy ass ride IMO.
ima finish it, even on the first ep of Undisclosed they say go and finish Serial if you haven't lol and they're not even affiliated but its on the same case

I just finished what I swear is the best podcast since Serial.

The podcast is called In The Dark. It's season 2 that is fascinating not season 1. I swear brehs you got to listen to this shyt.

It's all about a black man named Curtis Flowers accused of murdering four white people in a small town in Mississippi in 1996. The white district attorney has brought him to trial 6 times for the same crime. Each time the guilty verdict is either overturned or there is a hung jury. This guy's been in jail for 21 years for a crime that he probably didn't commit. But the good ol racist boys in Mississippi have used every trick in the book to keep this mother fukker locked up. It's heartbreaking and anger inducing and a compelling mystery all at the same time.

I would make a separate thread about it but I don't think anybody else is listening to it. If I'm wrong let's definitely start at thread and talk about it.

I just finished this podcast based on your recommendation. And at first I was upset I listened to your recommendation, lol. The blatant racism and corruption is infuriating. They literally have no evidence on dude. I thought the podcast was a little biased towards Curtis. I kept thinking they have to be leaving some stuff out to make him look innocent. They gotta have more than just some snitches and unreliable eye witnesses, right? But it is a damn good podcast that y’all should check out.

Glad you were able to appreciate it. :myman: Yeah it is definitely hard to listen to but it is so insightful about how insidious white racism is and how complicit the legal system is in perpetuating Jim Crow tactics. I know Michelle Alexander covers this in parts of her famous book but this podcast really personalizes it in a way that is, as you said, infuriating.

About the slanted perspective I hear what you are saying but the podcast is told with a bias towards Curtis but that is because they are trying to save his life! Given the enormous hill he has to climb to overcome southern institutional racism, "objectively" telling the story wouldn't be compelling enough.

So, almost 5 years later & I have to say I believe Adnan killed Hae. There is just too many coincidences that line up & I can't help but to believe that he murdered that girl.

Facts that weren't included in serial that stuck out to me:
1) Adnan's good buddy Imran sent an email to Hae's friends in California before Hae's body was found, telling them not to bother looking for her because she was dead.

2) Adnan was evading an in-person interview with the police regarding the disappearance of Hae. He repeatedly told the police not to contact his house.
  1. Adnan stole from a questionnaire from a student that a teacher was passing out about the disappearance of Hae, before Debbie could complete it and hand it in.

  2. Adnan told the same teacher to stop investigating.

  3. Adnan's good friend Saad was also caught going through Adnan's teacher's papers.

The more I researched, & read I am absolutely convinced Adnan is guilty.

What y'all think???

I have always leaned towards Adnan being not guilty but I admit I had only listened to serial and undisclosed. Both of which seem to be more pro adnan. After reading more, I’ve come to the conclusion... I have no idea. Lol. I do know that there was a lot of bs from the police and Jay and no real evidence that points to Adnan. I don’t think circumstantial evidence is enough to convict someone. None of the things you said look good for him, but it doesn’t make him a murderer necessarily. And the only person who claimed to have seen Adnan with the dead body is Jay. And he is still changing his story to this day

So why was Adnan not mad at Jay for accusing him?

That’s mostly what I listened to as far as podcasts also so I’m the same and leading towards not guilty. This is not saying I know if he did it or not but I put majority of the blame on Jay for it not getting solved. All that lying can’t even be good for someone’s health and the last theory I heard is he might of did it for the cash reward is absolutely crazy to me. I don’t know if he was coached but I said this at the time and I still believe it, nobody is helping to bury a body and not seeing prison time. I know folks who have done years just being in a vehicle when a crime happened, no way he is walking out of an investigation that clean basically being the accomplice.
