so here is my issue... people are operating strictly from a scientific paradigm in which 100% verifiable proof must be present and verified before any thought is given or action is taken to the contrary of the main thesis that water fluoridation is safe. but that is a very dangerous paradigm in this case because of what is at stake, especially when we look at potential pros if we are right, and weigh them against potential cons if we are wrong.

we should be more in the LEGAL paradigm looking for EVIDENCE to see if we need to do more investigating into this matter of water fluoridation.

and from what it looks like, we need to study more, and do more experiments, and find out more information concerning the long term effects of water fluoridation... thats common sense. you dont release something into the public water supply before you know what its gonna do to people. this is common sense.

a responsible government should have conducted this research BEFORE we fluoridated the water. because what if we are wrong? what if fluoride is one of the factors contributing to keeping americans at all time highs of sickness?

this is why we have a responsibility to do more research, because we cannot just accept that water fluoridation is safe.

it says this harvard study in the OP is a study that just got published june 20. and from the article: Harvard University researchers' review of fluoride/brain studies concludes "our results support the possibility of adverse effects of fluoride exposures on children's neurodevelopment."

Further, the EPA says fluoride is a chemical "with substantial evidence of developmental neurotoxicity."

hol up

we gotta stop right here.

THIS MEANS WE SHUT DOWN THE WATER FLUORIDATION PROCESS IMMEDIATELY UNTIL MORE FACTS ARE KNOWN ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF WATER FLUORIDATION!!!

again, this is basic common sense

now figure into the equation all the controversy surrounding water fluoridation and all the countries/organizations/and individuals who oppose it... here is a short list:

As of July 14, 2011, 3,744 medical, scientific, and environmental professionals (including nurses, DCs, PhDs, MDs, dentists, NDs, lawyers, pharmacists, veterinarians, and water treatment workers) have signed this statement released by FAN on August 9, 2007

Professionals Call for the End of Water Fluoridation

hello?

this should be raising a red fukking flag. and this is further evidence that we should shut down water fluoridation until more conclusive research has been done.

common... sense.

so you dont have to believe with 100% certainty that fluoride is poisoning the water supply.

but even more importantly you cannot believe with 100% certainty that fluoride is NOT poisoning the water supply, because of all the EVIDENCE to the contrary that has been presented. do you understand what im saying?

so at this point its not about right and wrong cuz the shyt is already in the water. EVERYONE'S number one goal in this debate should be to find out the long term effects of fluoridating the water supply, nothing else.

we are ALL exposed to water fluoridation on a DAILY basis in multiple ways, so our lives and the lives of our families are literally on the line in this scenario.

so considering the importance, shouldnt we be 100% sure of the short and long term effects of something BEFORE we put in the WATER SUPPLY?!? i mean, am i bugging? or would doing proper research be the responsible thing to do when undertaking a project like this that is literally going to exponentially increase the amount of fluoride that hundred of millions if not billions of people will be exposed to?

common sense.

best case scenario fluoride is not that harmful for us in large doses and it helps keep adult teeth strong and we're good...

but what is the worst case scenario?

you see what im sayin?

at the MINIMUM more investigation needs to be done. and this investigation should have been done waaaaaaay BEFORE they even THOUGHT about putting the fluoride in the water.

but its already in the water supply... AND we dont know the long term effects... and there is strong evidence to support that we are ingesting too much fluoride and that fluoride harms the body! what fukking planet are we living on where this is not a concern?! this is so straight forward it hurts.

yall nagas betta smarten up man... youre life or someone you love's life is on the line with this scenario, so i hope youre right, for your sake.

potential pros=your teeth have extra protection from bacteria

potential cons=you are potentially slowly poisoning yourself and your loved ones to death

prosper any where on earth
fluoride is harmful in anything, there is no safe fluoride

and also about the vitamin c article, that's bs to make you get the flu shot and get sick

most of these articles have hidden agendas by bs agent dr's and studies

i remember they said on the news about that vitamin c study

then turn around and claim it wasn't bad anymore, now if you take tooooooo much then ok, but if your taking them daily with a accurate amount then your good.

So you won't even use toothpaste with fluoride in it?

Yall some conspiratorial ass nyggas.

A 1998 study is your crutch?

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, is a common supplement taken by many people every day. Some of the reasons people take vitamin C include the prevention and treatment of colds, to prevent the appearance of skin aging, and for its antioxidant properties, just to name a few. Many people erroneously assume that vitamin C is harmless, but just like anything else, too much of a good thing can turn into what looks like a vitamin C overdose.

Technically, a vitamin C overdose is not possible, because vitamin C is not stored by the body--but it is still possible to take too much vitamin C at one time. Most health experts recommend taking between 500 and 2,000 milligrams (mg) of vitamin C a day, even though the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) is just 75 to 90 mg. More than 2,000 mg a day is almost never recommended, but if you have any specific questions, illnesses, or dietary needs, you should contact your physician.

The symptoms of a vitamin C overdose generally include diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting, increased urination, a flushed face, and a headache. These symptoms are usually not especially harmful, and will begin to cease when the toxicity levels of vitamin C in the body decrease, which happens relatively quickly. If you are experiencing diarrhea or vomiting, it is important to stay hydrated. Obviously, if you begin to experience these symptoms, immediately stop taking vitamin C. It is probably a good idea to contact your physician and find out what amount you can safely take.

One way to prevent a vitamin C overdose is to get your nutrients from the foods you eat. Eating foods rich in vitamin C is just as effective, if not more so, than taking the nutrient in a pill form. Fruits and vegetables are delicious and rich in vitamin C, and you don't need to worry about getting too much vitamin C into your system that way.

Another option to prevent a vitamin C overdose is to take a multivitamin that contains vitamin C, instead of taking just a separate vitamin C pill. The levels of vitamin C in a multivitamin are generally low enough that they won't cause any stomach irritation, while still providing health benefits. A multivitamin combined with a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables should ensure you get all the vitamin C you need, without the risk of any potentially unpleasant or harmful side effects.

Sounds like you would rather put fluoride in your body then essentials you need. Compare and Contrast the benefits between the two and Vitamin C will still reign supreme as an essential part of daily life. I don't need flouride to survive...apparently your brain does.

so are you arguing against Vitamin C overdose being harmful or not:shaq2: If substances were deemed dangerous or harmful based on whether or not essential, you'd cut out most of what Modern Human consume. This includes Zoledronic acid, Metipranolol and other inorganic compounds that fortify the Human body.

:upsetfavre: Sadly I addressed the Vitamin C overdose...which is really impossible as well as the side-effects which are no more dangerous than having a cold.

Its improbable not impossible as is fluoride poisoning in America via tap water. The controversy over fluoridated water is whether or not we have the right levels of fluorine in our water, not whether or not fluorine can be harmful. This thread and that article is intellectually dishonest given that the Harvard study only confirms that high fluroide levels, nearly twice as much as in our water supply, will fukk with a child's IQ.

I thought fluoride was harmless?

it is, because people are clearly too stupid to do personal research outside of youtube, here is my post to another idiot

just to make it clear how water fluoridation works to those who have yet to take Chemistry at the high school or collegiate levels

basically sodium fluorosilicate(Na2SiF6 aka big bad fluoride) is suspended in the water in very small quantities(1mg/L)

the material that makes up your enamel hydroxylapatite( Hydroxylapatite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) has a hydroxyl functional group(OH-) which is very weak and is easily displaced by the things you eat(various acid food etc) which causes tooth decay(like rust in your mouth)

however the loose fluoride ions from the sodium fluorosilicate replace the hydroxyl group in the hydroxylapatite forming a relatively insoluble compound.

think of it as galvanizing your teeth(rust proofing)

the fluoride ions also still present in your saliva prevent plaque buildup as well as a host of other oral bacteria that typically plague the rest of the world.

the fluoride content in water is roughly 1mg/L, for the fluoride ions to be toxic and effect the calcium ions in your brain, you would need the minimum of 5g of fluoride ions(aka it would take 5000 liters of normal tap water, which more or less means you would die from water poisoning first)

I doubt those against fluoride will read this, and will continue to clamor for lizard men and evil jewish illuminati

:shaq2:

EDIT - on the flipside FLUORINE in its elemental form which is non-ionized is extremely toxic. Fluoride is also part of Teflon(polytetrafluoroethylene) :smugfavre:

Fluoridation has been the subject of many court cases wherein activists have sued municipalities, asserting that their rights to consent to medical treatment and due process are infringed by mandatory water fluoridation.[44] Individuals have sued municipalities for a number of illnesses that they believe were caused by fluoridation of the city's water supply. In most of these cases, the courts have held in favor of cities, finding no or only a tenuous connection between health problems and widespread water fluoridation.[45] To date, no federal appellate court or state court of last resort (i.e., state supreme court) has found water fluoridation to be unlawful.[46]
