But you know what... Maybe I am wrong. I can/will admit that

I just have a dislike for the average military person at the moment, not really satisfied on where my career has headed. Got shafted a couple times, so I'm partially speaking out of bitterness. but no decision to join is really a bad decision and the Army is far from prison.

Even though its my opinion, and its from my experiences, its still not the 100% of what the service is like. So I apologize for any disrespect from the military standpoint
whatever, shyt happens.... i got an article 15 as E2, took orders from people with wayyy less education than me. deal with the cac of all cac, and was deployed on some str8 up back to back, getting extended type shyt.

but after all that i was young as fukk w a high ass rank and good position. u can bounce back, ignore all the fukk shyt - it makes u better when u get out anyway.

Done had to many civilians down talk me like i went to prison instead of going into the Army

I hate to even tell people in real life
People have no respect

I hate Veterans day just as much as i hate Black History Month

Both are just means to exploit groups that America dont give a fukk about
I am kinda with you on that. I was just thinking the same thing yesterday. I am third generation Army, so I didn't realize how much most civilians could gave a fukk less about us until I was on recruiting duty in the St. Louis area, and not surrounded by military or retirees like I had been the majority of my life. People will come up to you on some "Thank you for your service!" bullshyt, all smiling and shyt, but in the next sentence will say some shyt to degrade your profession. So when most people thank me for my service, I usually think it's just flattery and bullshyt, and I'd rather they had not said anything at all. There are a few exceptions, like when some Vietnam vets, other vets, and people who you can tell genuinely respect the military say it. Personally, I think everyone in this country should have to earn their right to citizenship. Possibly by either serving two years in a branch of the military, or two years doing some kind of public works within a government organization similar to the old Civilian Conservation Corps. I had a friend's wife tell me that I was too smart to be in the Army. I had to break it down to her ass that the military is full of idiots...as well as many intelligent people. I pointed out that she doesn't have a degree of any kind, while I and two of my soldiers have a bachelor's degree; my father joined with a bachelor's degree, now has a master's, and makes six figures. So a good number of these people she thinks are dumb, have probably accomplished more in life than she has. It seems like many civilians forget that many of our greatest leaders and greatest citizens were/are veterans.
It's not just civilians that irk me, a lot of people in the military irk the shyt outta me too with the elitism bullshyt. I hate it when some officer or NCO starts talking about life outside the military like it's nothing but fast food and Wal-Mart, unless you get a contracting job. I'm getting out after damn near a decade of service, because I want to become a teacher. I think that I'll be able to contribute more to society as an educator, than as a Soldier. Because truth be told, I lost my passion for this shyt years ago. To get to the point, fellow NCO's and some officers that I am deployed with try to talk me out of getting out everyday. But the way they come at me just makes me want to get out even more, because so many people in the military have this complex of superiority. It doesn't help when we are placed on a pedestal by a lot of folks. I think vets should definitely be respected, but not placed on a pedestal and worshiped. I hate Soldier worship as much as I hate the blatant disrespect shown towards Soldiers. Sorry, I get passionate about shyt.....rant's over

Yeah I feel you brah
my story is the opposite

no one in my family was in the military but about 2 older cousins

the way people talk about going into the military is like the person is going to jail for a long time
-no one congratulates you, they say they are sorry for you

When people found out i was in the Army they would straight up say, "you know you gone get killed in Iraq huh"?

Then you had people in other branches putting you down cause you in the Army
it's like the Army is the nikka of the military

After i did basic trng at Benning i got selected to do hometown recruiting and my dumb ass was going around in my Class B's to different high schools and got treated like i was trying to pick up underage girls

even at my own damm Highschool
I had my own teachers say,"You should be ashamed of yoself, trying to get these kids to go to Iraq" :what:

i just dont know man

i just dont like people anymore

to go from being disrespected for being black

to being also disrespected for being military

i just dont fukk with people too much

***if you getting out, make sure you apply for your VA benefits in advance*****

they owe you that money

I had the same shyt happen to me when I first started talking about joining. What pissed me off the most is that my boy, who'd just gotten out a few months earlier, was one of the main ones saying that shyt. He joined right out of high school, got out, and is the guy that most people in the military talk about when they mention working at Burger King or Wal-Mart. As lazy and fukked up a civilian with a family that he became, I am pretty sure he was even worse as a Soldier.
I had to deal with teachers who were on that bullshyt when I was a recruiter. One even asked me what a kid would do with all their benefits if they're killed in Iraq or Afghanistan....for a kid a I was putting in as fukking 25B. I'm actually worried about that kinda shyt once I start teaching, punk ass teachers giving out advice about military service, without knowing a damn thing about it.
Definitely getting all I can from the VA. I was on jump status almost 5 years and my left ankle is still fukked up years later.

yeah i disagree

i know numerous people who chose the military because that was what they always wanted to do.

i chose to come in after receiving my degree and going to law school

and knowing what I did in Iraq and Afghanistan
putting my life on the line, losing friends, getting a concussion and all I def could careless what some other nikka that was in the military and dont have respect for it-

and I find it hilarious how even some people in or have been in the military can pop shyt like it is something lower than civilian life when they havent accomplished shyt and probably pinching pennies

so basically fukk you
and ya mama you bytch ass nikka

:salute:

Basically. I chose a combat career field.. After already going school at 17 on academic scholarhip... i joined after my teen years, and it def wasn't the only option at the time.

Bum ASS scary ass bytch nikkas always talking shyt when studies show that military members are better educated and wealthier than their civilian counter parts. nikkas trying to get likes on facebook - while we getting mortared n shyt so everyone can post online and never in our life time worry about a foreign bomb dropping on our streets like most of the rest of the world as to deal with.

Not that everyone should join the military - or even agree with US foreign policy, but you don't have to be a simple minded bytch about it. And yea some people do join as a last resort...... some of those people would have been bums, in crime, or living mediocre lives instead of having a chance to get educated for free and get money.

lol, and here we go...

I know people who joined because they felt like it, to serve their country, those who joined because their parents joined, some who went enlisted even though they had degrees and etc.

I also know more who joined because they thought they were going to be superheroes or because they wanted to get out of there small ass hicktown, or because they were getting in trouble with the law (my brother for example). I even know some people who joined just so they could kill other people... THAT is the norm, you acting like the recruiting stations aren't in the hoods or shytty areas for a reason.

If you joined to serve that cool, but don't act like thats majority of the service because you lying to yourself Joe...

And btw, I've accomplished everything I set out to do. I have nothing against people who serve but I find it equally as funny when nikkas act high and mighty or like they "brave" because you decided to join and went to the middle east or lost some people... WTF you think was gonna happen nikka? Disagree all day but don't mad at my opinion like a bytch, no one cares about your life story. I also know A LOT of muthafukkas who stay in JUST because they can't cut it in the civilian world or are too afraid of the change knowing they won't never have the amount of power once they get out.

maybe my experience with civilians is different than everyone else

i have heard 90% negative inregards to the military

i had a nikka working in a shoe store make a comment that you had to be an idiot to go into the army :snoop:

and i asked if he was in college or some shyt and he wasnt
dude was 20plus working there fulltime, and felt that was better than serving his country

when i went into the army, i didnt even tell anyone except my parents cause i knew what mafukkas were going to say

I think all of you have some valid points. I'll tell you that my worst experience in the Army hasn't been deployment, it was recruiting and having to deal with some of the shyt y'all mentioned, almost daily.

i have no idea what i did with my DD214s after i moved. i had about 10 copies in one of those cheap ass blue government folders. I still have my CAC tho. shyts been expired for about a year and ahalf. think i can still use it?
You should be able to use dog tags, dd2 14, old id, etc. Depends on the restaurant though. You need to go on that website and see if you can order some.

I was in the NAVY for the 9-11 era. Going to the VA Today for anxiety, depression and headaches. Never really tripped off of that until I started talking to other vets man. I started googling and all this shyt started popping in. I've seen some things but I wasn't a ground troop.
