OAKLAND -- One woman was killed and two other perople were injured, in separate shootings on New Year's Eve, police said. One of the victims was a child who remained in critical condition late Tuesday.
The first shooting was reported shortly before 9 p.m. at 54th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. One man was shot in the leg, but his injury is not considered life-threatening, according to police, who did not have any information on motive or suspects.
The second shooting, reported around 9:10 p.m., happened in the 1800 block of 22nd Avenue. The victim, a woman, was shot in the chest and was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police said.
Hers is the 92nd homicide in the city in 2013.
A similar shooting happened just minutes later around 9:26 p.m. near 104th Avenue and Walnut Street. A juvenile was hit in the chest by gunfire and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The child's status late Tuesday was unknown.
No suspect information was immediately available in any of the shootings.
