from a economical resource and military advantage standpoint...

like the time Argentina decided it wanted to go take over the Falkland Islands which were nearby ...

UK been playing this game for centuries..and they don't care if how big or small you are...if they CAN EAT OFF OF YOU they will...

ask AUSTRALIA and CANADA they still got them paying taxes to the Royal Family so that the Queen can ball out

Basically.
All the independence moments in the islands were basically business decisions.

Sheeeeit it was WAAAY CHEAPER and more PROFITIABLE to "grant' indepdence to islands like Jamaica and have it struggle to pay back loans that it could never afford and become subordinate financially to the UK and european creditors...

as opposed to the UK having to be responsible for it's "survival" as a true commenwealth of the United Kingdom..........

rumor has it ...that's how they handled "American Independence"..and that WAR wasn't so much a "loss" to Britian as we think....

What there should be is a United West Indies States cause all the islands are suffering the same things from the US/UK. Even those who fought for their independence were basically blacklisted from the world economy (Haiti), and instituted a foolish debt that is still crippling them today.

Alot of these islands are also being used as strategic points to keep eyes on Cuba/Venezuela, and are being extorted for resources.

But whatever.. it is written, "He that leads into captivity, shall go into captivity"

that shyt DIDN'T WORK...we tried that already with CARICOM

it was suppose to be like a UNITED NATIONS of islands....

first off too much damn tribal island rivalry .....based on ego's...i remember being up on Church street in BK one time around 91' and the Crucians from St. Croix and the Trini's where having a broad daylight gunfight over petty island rivalry...

also a "federation' would rob each island of it's own unique character and identity....

also it would be illogical for these islands to unite considering that many of them are still subordinate or codependents on the old colonial powers such as Denmark, UK and France...

for example the Domincan Republic did some fukkery when it was invited to join CARICOM basically only seeking to join if the other member states entered into a FREE TRADE AGREEMENT that the domincan republic already shared with the EU (EUROPEAN UNION)...called CARIFORUM TRETY signed back in 92'...

guyana and HAITI said FUKK OFF!!....knowing damn well that any association with Europe would further subordinate the carribean states...

next thing you know France and the US were after Haiti's president head (ARISTADE) ........which explains him calling out the US as trying to undermine not only HAITI but carribean empowerment
