“I am very hopeful,” said showrunner Bryan Fuller. “The great thing about the fact that if we are going to be meeting them and it takes five, six, seven years until we’re meeting them, that’ll just be how long they’ve been on the lam.”
While he doesn’t mention Netflix by name, given Hannibal’s recent arrival and success there, the pairing is obvious, and Hannibal comes with a built-in fanbase (the Fannibals!) that has absolutely been dying to see the show brought back to life. And it would be doing so probably around the time that the series would be recreating Silence of the Lambs, as they just finished the Red Dragon storyline in season 3. Obviously, that would be something to behold.
They talked a bit about what could or couldn’t happen in season 4, including any cast member, even dead ones, potentially returning: “Believe me, if we get a season four, with all the mind palace bullshyt of Will Graham’s broken mind, everyone is coming back,” Fuller said.
