What is the magnitude of the reverse engineering? I had some problems with that too.
Reverse engineering in itself is something that isn't easily done. But processors can't be seen in detail without electron microscopes you can't build what you can't see that's why they were using those test lights and recording the Hex code with them. If you know anything about computer science then you'll know that they were pulling code from that chip at an extremely fundamental level. Most code these days is alot easier to read and deal with. They were dealing with some stone age,unforgivable shyt
The margin for error is extremely large. They have absolutely no guarantee that they aren't wasting their time. They won't know whether they are or not until they're done. BUT if successful it puts them on the same level as the "blue guys". That scene was significant in a alot of ways (especially because just about all the tech giants we know of today came from a garage just like there's)
