Don't you live in NYC though? LA/NYC/Chi/Boston/Miami/SF are all outliers when it comes to what happens in the rest of the country.

People forget that most of the money is in the large, "international" cities. I get a 30% locality added on to my base salary for living in Houston. Some place like Bumblefukk, ND has like a 12% locality and it makes a huge difference in pay. Much of America is still rural. These rural communities and small towns don't have a lot of 50k and up jobs. The "rich guy" in some of these places might be worth about 65k a year.

Its called sacrifices not everyone eats out or has a car or lives in a nice area.

cosign. I hadn't read the article, but wages only tell half the story. A household pulling in 50K in Tennessee could be living better than a family pulling in 80k in Miami. Actually there's no doubt in my mind, the family in Tennessee is living better. Also I forgot the report where a black household earning 75K is equivalent to a white household earning 45K :wow:..In other words what's your debt looking like? :stopitslime: with that 100K combined household?

What kind of vehicles are you leasing versus the household that bought outright a used vehicle?

Of course that's not the case for everyone, myself included. But if raising a family in a 2-income household, both should have strived to make more than 30k. I know a good amount of kids are un-planned, but just being solo, 30k and below shouldn't be a content amount to be making. But, it depends on where people live and their cost of living.

My college loan is done being paid off since last December. I only did 2yrs away took a 2yr break and the remaining years I went to city college, but always had a 9 to 5 while going to college in the city. We don't live together, she just stays over weekends. I have my own apt I rent, she lives with a roomate in a higher cost of living area in Bk since it's closer to Manhattan. We will probably move in together sometime this year. I have a 2005 car which was paid for fully. She don't drive. We're definitely not the Jeffersons or anything. We also don't have kids, so its easier to save.

More than half of American households make less than 60k a year.

The report breaks it down even further, noting that 40 percent of families earn $40,000 or less a year and a remarkable 15 percent earn somewhere between $1 and $20,000 a year

And more than 75% of American households earn less than 100k a year
THis article MAY be accurate but the thing is most of these low income homes live above their means anyway. Some get some sort of financial assistance and a lot of the stuff they own is on credit. I cant blame them because you gotta survive somehow. YOu need reliable cars to get to the shytty job in the first place because shytty jobs tend to be the ones to fire you the quickest.

Also

THe majority of jobs in states like California, the north Eastern states and and surrounding areas have to pay a lot more to put up with the cost of living their employees have to deal with. I'm sure there are hotel maids in NY making $60K and struggling. Those numbers tend to elevate the national average even more so if you remove them from the equation you'll find that the average is even less than reported here

IT days of crazy money will be numbered. Too many people going to them will only drive down wages.

It depends. Like most industries, dudes at the bottom are the most at risk. If you specialize in something and become an expert in your field, you'll be alright. And as technology advances and legislation start having stricter demands, the demand for highly skilled employees will only increase IMO.
And yet on the coli, 90% of our members earn way more than than :mjpls:

Sounds like we should have a post your pay stub thread :cacpls:

:lupe: Wonder how many of the 6 cert, 6 figure, coli braggers will all of sudden be like "I'm trying to be humble breh :wow:"

This right here. I landed a job in about an hour by really knowing the in/outs of an OS that people tossed to the bushes. I still continue to learn other OS' to ensure I'm not behind the curve in case I need a side gig.

All households.

Further illustrating the disconnect people have with wealth in America.
There is wealth. It is in the hands of the upper 1%.
