Japan is notorious for people conforming to the culture and not individualistic desires. Society over individual. Period. They have pretty strict uniform codes too. This may get traction in western media but it's a non-issue in Japan.
Not for nothing, this part of the reason western culture full of jackasses. We may allow too much individualism too early. Hard to form a cohesive society when everyone is taught my desires matter more than the collective. I think that individualism has its benefits for sure but so does the strict conformity approach of Japanese society.

Having said that, there’s gotta be a medium where something like this can be more acceptable.

It’s a strict but non-racist policy from a strict mostly racist country. I’m sure Tekken, Akira, and Naruto showed up with their hair regulation af. Now if the school did let the full Japanese kids wear their hair any kind of way and singled the brack boy out, then I’d have more of a problem with this.

This is par for the course. I remember schools being segregated when I lived in Okinawa and the ones that weren't, the mixed kids had the worst transport to school. Wasn't like what I saw in Seoul where kids were catching city transport to school

it's neat but somehow against the rules.:mjpls:
Wrong place for this convo. All those asian countries are crazy about comformity. And they lack the “diveristy-is-good” brainwashing that we’ve recieved in the west since the 60s. Little Dude is very verry very very very deep into enemy territory.

And he is that deep into their territory while trying to raise a black flag.:picard:

One of my friends from highschool was an exchange student from japan. He said he loved our freedom of expression. I remember Hokuto lamenting me that they force the asian kids with brown natural hair to dye it black in their school system, just so they can look like the other kids. so i just know they dont have leeway for their haffu-brehs.

also, i think its really selfish to raise your black children in such hostile places to them. They shouldve sent him home to his father’s country for compulsory education.
