i don't know what yall arguing, but patrick ewing was a better midrange scorer than hakeem ever was.

and that don't mean nothing :usure:
He's trying to claim Hakeem was an elite midrange shooter, in order to support the previous guy who said that Hakeem was a more versatile scorer than Bron. :comeon:

hakeem is a center. he did center things. he is one of the greatest post player ever :usure:
Agreed - I have him at #5 of my all-time list, just ahead of Duncan and Shaq. The only post player I put above him is Kareem.

ain't nobody more crafty and creative than hakeem was down low. he had to because he was undersized and didn't over power nobody :comeon:
You're thinking 1990s Hakeem.

In the 1980s he wasn't that crafty and creative yet, he scored with brute force. And he wasn't undersize at all for that era, Moses Malone was smaller than Dream and Moses won a title and three MVPs solely by overworking and overpowering fools without any next-level skill at all.

When the NBA was a man's game:wow:
That's the quote to end the era argument right now.
[/QUOTE]
We are talking about the year that B.J. Armstrong and Kenny Anderson were the East All-star starters at guard each weighing 160lbs soaking wet, right. :pachaha:

I thought it was the year that little Mark Price was the 1st-team All-NBA guard, but that was the year before next to MJ. :skip:

Cliff Robinson's skinny ass at center was an all-star that year too, he had to defend Hakeem in the playoffs while looking all of 185 or so.

Must have confused Hakeem something serious when Oliver Millier's short obese ass matched him up the next series. :russ:

A better thread than this would’ve been

How much more does Embiid need to show to be on Hakeem’s level

The amount of hate and vitriol lebron james gets on this forum is sickening, dont you pathetic fukks have anything more productive to acheive? This man has been the model citizen for a black athlete, has spoke out against racism, does not c00n and uses his money to make change and yet you imbeciles find ways to criticize him everyday and prefer kobe the man who missed the most fg in nba history and is arrogant as hell and mj who doesnt use his platform to the extent he can.

Rocket fans gave up with Harden so they have to dig up Hakeem to stay relevant...:russ:

How in the fukk could Russell be rated higher than Hakeem?

They’re basically the same defensively while Hakeem was WAY BETTER offensively

Rings! Rings! It's all about the rings! Forget actual skill sets, actual performance, or the level of competition, it doesn't matter as long as you have the ringz!11!

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
I know Hakeem doesn't immediately pop up at you in the GOAT convo, but he's better than Lebron

Hakeem is easily the better scorer, and its not even close. And also more variety in his scoring
Top 5 defender of all time of any position, blows Lebron out the water on that

Just think, the only thing Lebron is better at is Athleticism and Passing. But at the same time Hakeem is no slouch on either of those

His playoff run in 1994 with no other all star on his roster was equal or even better than Lebron coming back from 3-1 against the Warriors

He's higher on the GOAT list than Lebron to me :manny:

valid argument

The Truth
Yes he is. People who think this is a silly notion are ignorant of Hakeem's career and NBA history. They don't know what type of monster Hakeem was.

Hakeem is the most complete center in history and probably the most underrated player of all time. He was legitimately a top 5 offensive player of the 80's and 90's and was arguably the GOAT defensive player ever. He's top 1 in blocks all time and top 10 in steals (which is ridiculous for a center). He dominated all statistical categories.

Hakeem was a clutch performer. He dominated all the elite centers of the 90's which was the greatest era for centers in NBA history. People talk about 2 championships but what they don't tell you is Hakeem played for a very dysfunctional franchise for most of his prime. Hakeem in the mid-90's wasn't even prime Hakeem. This guy took the Rockets to the NBA finals in 86 with Ralph Sampson, defeating one of the greatest teams of all time in the Show time Lakers in just 5 games. The only thing that stopped that Rockets team from being a major consistent force was Sampson's injuries.

Hakeem wasted his prime from 87-93 on mediocre Rockets teams. Hakeem led his team in averaging 4/5 categories for a record 9 different seasons, 8 straight seasons from 1985/86 to 1992/93. Unlike a certain Lebron, he didn't bail out on his squad and go and join a top 5 player to win 2 titles. He stayed and persevered.

In the 94 playoffs, this guy led his team in all 5 statistical categories throughout the ENTIRE playoffs. The only player in NBA history to do so. He was the best scorer, passer, ball stealer, rebounder, shot blocker in addition to playing all time great defense on all time great centers.

In the 94 playoffs, Hakeem had arguably the worst supporting cast in NBA history and led them to a championship. Unlike Lebron, he didn't have a superstar averaging 25ppg throughout the playoffs by his side. Just look at some of the numbers his teammates averaged in that title run:

Playoff Statistics
29-11-4 on 52% FG - 80% FT - Hakeem Olajuwon
14-4-4 on 38% FG - 69% FT - Vernon Maxwell
12-6-4 on 43% FG - 77% FT - Robert Horry
11-10-2 on 57% FG - 57% FT - Otis Thorpe
11-2-4 on 46% FG - 81% FT - Kenny Smith

:scust:

This was the lowest scoring supporting cast among Championship teams in NBA history.

Hakeem is absolutely as good if not better than Lebron , especially if you factor in defense. In terms of ability, he's legit a top 3-4 talent all time along with the likes of Jordan, Wilt and Lebron. Lebron just has more hype and media attention around him.

If Hakeem wasn't competing in the same era as the GOAT and if he had an American sounding name, he'll have at least 4-5 MVP's. Especially If Kareem could have 6 MVP's for some of the seasons he had in the 70's.
Welp... close thread:mjlol:

Hakeem is one of those dudes that might actually be better today if he was born 25 years later. In the modern game, his athletic ability and overall skill would make him dangerous. Swap out Draymond with Hakeem and the Dubs would win 10 straight rings.
