It is not a bad idea. Only a fool doesn't think it is but it does not solve the core of the problem which is governance. U.S can send the Marines and clean up the gangs within a month. When they leave, the country will fall apart again.

It is going to take an army to truly clean this up because the police does not truly have the material and capabilities to truly enter those locations full of armed gangs. Now does the U.S want to train and equip the 2000 soldiers that we have....highly doubt it.

Is it really the people in Haiti or their diaspora living in the US and other places? I saw some Haitian dude in the US a couple months back talking about not wanting foreign forces in Haiti because of the past. Yet he's living in the US not Haiti. And his Haitian people are trying to migrate in droves. It's fukking idiotic. People on Haiti are almost begging for foreign forces to fight the gangs at this point.
So, how did the whole "US comes in and cleans up everything" idea working out in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. . .?

its wild that People in Haiti is still talking about soveriegnity and independance They say that gangs are holdin gas hostage and pissed off cops stormed the presidential palace.

Either things in Haiti are out of control or theyre not.

If shyt is bad as they say the even with the history sending in the Marines isnt a bad idea

The answer is a bit more complex. You don't want a foreign force there in large part because they're partly to blame for the state that the country is in. But unfortunately you need them there because the situation is untenable. The so called government in Haiti’s either unwilling or incapable of rectifying the situation.

This is totally different. You are talking about a group of people whose core ideology is very different than the U.S. I live in the present, there is no stability in Haiti without the assistance of Canada and the U.S at the moment. These aren't just "gangs". We can say nortenos, bloods etc. etc. exist but they don't just paralize a whole country from functioning. Haitians are stuck in their houses and only go out for food. These "gangs" are raping, killing, burning, kidnapping with no intention to stop.
The police does not have the capabilities to clean up a gang hide out full of you men with guns. These are the major gang areas. Vilaj is full of probably hundreds of men or young men with guns.

This is happening throughout port au prince and the government has shown no ability or will to stop them. Basically Haitians are dying with ZERO justice.

*****************
The current state of Haiti has absolutely nothing to do with the U.S or Canada. Read my posts from 2017 to 2018, I predicted this is where we are going to end up. Our politicians and these so called Haitian elite never get along. They use destructive tactics to get any president out of the paint. They are the ones that armed these gangs initially but now have lost total control. Cleaning up these gangs mean nothing in the grand scheme of thing if you do not clean up the government officials and corrupt businessman.

The U.S is staying back because they want Haitians to solve the issues themselves. Which in my opinion is fair...but they don't want to give millions in military equipment to corrupt officials also ssooooo the Haitian population pays the ultimate price.

Most Haitians are not anti U.S intervention, they are begging whatever is left of their government to do something and they dont. If there is foreign intervention, the gangs and politicians have to go.

But where are the guns coming from?

They were smuggled from the U.S but a country should have proper protocols in place to stop the shipment of guns. There were literally church members smuggling guns to sell to gang members. Haiti literally allows business elites to ship containers unchecked.

Yes, part of the problems is U.S very lax gun laws.

I am not going to blame the U.S for the hardcore corruption going on in Haiti. Sorry, I can't. We can talk about the past but for the present no. Haiti is lacking in every thing and that boils down to poor governance and corruption.

I partly agree with the first part. They need to put that shyt in check. But Haiti doesn't make guns. I mean just wtf is customs for? They need to do their damn job. I wonder if their negligence is grounds for a class action law suit.

As far as the second part, the Tet Kale party wouldn't have lasted this long if it wasn’t for U.S support. U.S is partly to blame for the corruption in that sense. If they put the same kind of pressure on these fools like they did Maduro, maybe we would see some kind of change.

Has the US ever stopped that from happening anywhere?

Literally everywhere the US has intervened, chaos or dictatorships have reigned from Chile to Honduras to Libya.

Fact is, the US doesn't make things better when they intervene

You are foolish man.....Look at the amount of Haitians fighting to get a passport to the U.S.

This has again nothing to do with the U.S. This is the result of Government and Businessman corruption. When 552 people die of violence and no one to provide justice..it is a problem.

So if U.S, Canada doesn't help. What is the solution ? Let the issue get worse and worse. Other countries in the Caribbeans cannot handle millions of Haitians trying to enter their islands. They don't have the means too. An Island invaded and ran by gangs will soon to violence on other islands, it simply can't happen. The corrupt, ignorant Haitian government wont solve it either.

We agree Haitians are trying to come here.

What I asked you was when was the last time the US intervened anywhere and it stopped the chaos as opposed to causing more chaos?
