I'm just saying its mad disappointing to see Haiti in the state that it's in. You can say that about a lot of countries, but given Haiti's history it should be much more.

It wouldn't be categorized as "disappointing" if you knew the history of why it is.

You'd know that its "systematic"

:what: it is disappointing now matter how you spin it/who you blame it on.

I was under the belief that dude was disappointed in the Haitians who didn't do what they should have done with their freedom.

If that were the case, I was merely addressing that he shouldn't be because the failures of Haiti wasn't by their own doing.

After the initial revolution, Haiti was the most prosperous Caribbean country and experiencing economic growth that rivaled many European nations in relative scope. Once the French tried to re-invade, and the US and Europe systematically blacklisted the nation with trade embargos (to prevent them from becoming successful and having Black slaves and colonized people elsewhere get similar ideas) that original revolutionary culture was destroyed and replaced with stagnation, petty squabbling over limited resources, and corruption, Haiti became what it is now.

If the French had not invaded/the white West hadn't systematically acted against Haiti's success, it would have been an extremely prosperous nation now.

It's funny, during the course of the Haitian revolution, the U.S.aided the Haitians in their freedom. Then Thomas Jefferson came into power and deaded that and started a complete reversal you're talking about.

This is mostly true. Haiti was doing well but not to the point of rivaling Western European nations. Thomas Jefferson didn't like black people doing that to a white man and likely didn't want black people in this country getting any ideas, so he promised Napoleon and the French all the support they needed to reclaim or injure Haiti's growth.

if the effects of what was done to Hati has a direct result to where they are 2day.... how can Cacs seriously not understand the plight of African Americans here in the U. S.? Ignorance? The two are almost a direct parallel. To understand Hati is to understand us now.
