Dope idea for a thread. That's some memories right there, bruh.

I'm in Canada, early 90's I had no way of seeing any of 'em, but I had read about 'em in PWI or some shyt. Just going by that coverage it seemed like SMW was probably No. 3 so that's how I voted here.

BUT, without getting too far off topic ... in '95 our family moved into a house that had an old satellite dish in the backyard, we used that to pick up some random U.S. channel that had a different promotion's wrestling on each weeknight (ECW, USWA, SMW, something called Deep South Wrestling, and one other that I can't remember). I thought both SMW and USWA were dope even if they were low budget and corny as hell. :heh:

Seems to me that USWA ring in their TV studio was like 10 x 10 feet, didn't look too level either. Dudes couldn't do shyt in there work-wise. :pachaha:
They definitely went heavy on mic work. Lawler seemed like he showed up in every segment of every episode. Same thing for Cornette in SMW.

USWA shyt used to trip me out on how many times Lawler held that fukking belt...and every monster of some sort who couldnt work held that damn title..Lawler was really god in Memphis..i still remember the NOD USWA stable..shyt was really offensive as fukk ..USWA was on a real decline by then...the USWA tag division though was fun to watch..seeing the first glimpse of flex kavana learning the ropes

Yeah I remember that shyt bruh. Belt passed back and forth between Lawler and some monster heel who couldn't work and usually couldn't speak either. For years, same formula, but the Memphis fans ate that shyt up.

Show had kind of a trash feel to it but I had never seen anything like it at the time so I kinda got into it. :heh: You're right though, some of that shyt was offensive, no doubt.

IWCCW is underrated.

- tony atlas as a dominant champ.
- kept a nice rotation of big names either as regulars or passers-by.
- low key, they had some innovative & fast-paced action.
- shoutout to vic steamboat

thing was, I kept forgetting when it came on. either that, or it jumped timeslots too much. so I didn't watch much of it.
plus, the production was like 10-15 years behind.

but they kinda failed big doing that from what i understand..and dude's death was something else :heh:

yea, I think they went a lil too fast with it.
but hell, even after they fell on their face, they kept at it and were still making moves that these other leagues should've tried their hand at.

ole bul was on some other chit tho. I remember when I found out some of the details surrounding his death.:picard:
