In hindsight Meek obviously made a huge miscalculation. Dude basically ruined his own career.
I agree. I think he cannibalized his own album's relevance and sales due to this. At the time this happened RICO was his highest charted single (peaked at 42 on the hot 100) and probably would have been his much commercially successful song on the album. Once the beef happened all support for the song completely stopped for obvious reasons. Dude should have waited until after his album cycled out of relevance.

Its been said, Meek as a former battle rapper, should have won that easy.

Wanna Know should have never came out. War pain from the start.

Or not do it at all. Waiting a few months would have just prolonged the inevitable. Drake didn't do anything to dude but make good music with him. Seems like Meek got some buzz and Nicki and went crazy. Probably trying to impress her a little bit and get her away from Drake. Didn't quite work out like that. War Pain was good but it didn't get any play outside of that first week because Summer Sixteen is basically a single with slick shots at various targets. Meek wasn't aiming for a single but a head shot. He missed but that Summer Sixteen hype fukking evaporated lol. His career isn't over either. He comes off as cocky and emotional but a lot of people still fukk with him. Look at the Coli after Nicki Minaj put her foot in her mouth on Ellen. If Rihanna was with Drake and that shyt happened where she was saying she was "single" there would be a 20 page thread on it. So yeah, people like Meek. His voice takes some getting used to but his music is pretty good.

The allure of War Pain was the fact he dropped it hours after Drake dropped Summer Sixteen and had references to Drake's new single. If he dropped War Pain after Back to Back it wouldn't work. No leaked track = no references to build on. Still would have been better than Wanna Know.

A lot of people still say it's only Drake bias that says Meek lost and that War Train or whatever track redeemed Meek.

I didn't expect Gunplay to just say straight up he was disappointed in Meek to be honest. That's his crew. I don't think Meek will be brave and talk shyt like he did with Wale but he won't be happy
how is that his crew if they don't have a relationship
plus you know that the song is called war pain
don't act like a youtube abrey stan!!!

Gunplay said in the same breath he would still ride for Meek if it went too far.
These rappers want it both ways, want to be seen as a crew for branding etc but don't really have that love for each other.

Gunplay said as much when he was doing all his press run of interviews/podcasts while the beef was going on.
its just now he can be a little more honest and specific with his words because he didn't know if Ross was going to get involved at any time back then.

I somewhat agree. But I've always felt like someone was in Meek's ear. And when the album did well first and second week, "they" felt it was the right time to strike. If this wasn't planned, Meek would have deleted them tweets. It's like...OK...Meek is trending up...he's with Nick...it's time to expose Drake. But whoever was in his ear didn't have a follow up plan lol. The whole shyt just came off as calculated and then Drake slick mentions it on Charged Up and that 30 for 30 freestyle. Whoever put him up to it left him out to dry and it seems he's alienated himself from most of MMG so he was out there dolo. Meek a grown man tho...It was just a bad move all around.

Nah, you're supposed to ride with your boy regardless. Sort out all the other bullshyt afterwards, but if you're part of a group you're supposed to have each other's backs.
Follow blindly into beefs, brehs, when the nicca who started said beef only had his self interests at heart.

Meek is an artist like anybody else.

That nicca is from Philly, them niccas from M I A.

They aint really "boys" on that level.
