what kind of precaution?
i just got a trojan from utorrent. never had that happen before on there. i tend to read comments on torrents i get but i still feel like i'm going in vulnerable.

never running/updating antivirus, having firewalls off, clicking ad links, looking for downloads on suspicious websites...years back it was downloading .exe from file sharing programs

Don't use utottent. Use an open source torrent client.

like what? i dont really know shyt about torrents. i use a private torrent site but thats about as deep as i go

Might look like a cluster-fukk of links but if you want to know anything basic about everything from removing a virus to building a PC to configuring to configuring a router to...you get the idea...then its all there. Matter of fact, there is a link to every piece of software mentioned in this thread. As it relates to the topic, check out the Antivirus/malware category on the left column.
This dude also has a GeGeek Tool kit that's like 7GB worth of software in it once everything is downloaded. All sorts of tools and resources to fix problems.
