Nicki Minaj surprised fans by linking up Gucci Mane for their new single“Make Love,” which she verified all the lyrics for on Genius. The two rappers previously collaborated on tracks like “Slumber Party,” “Sex In Crazy Places,” and “Girls Kissing Girls,” but they haven’t appeared on a song together in nearly four years after a falling out stemming from Gucci’s infamous 2013 Twitter rant.
On the track, Nicki takes shots at an unnamed female rapper:
Your career gon' be with Anna Nicole
Witcha dumbass face
She ain’t eatin' but I swear she got some bum ass taste
Text her man like, “Dawg, how that bum ass taste?”
Pay your rent! And stay in your bum ass place
Oooohhh, oh you the qu-e-e-the queen of this here?
One platinum plaque, album flopped, bytch, where?
Although she doesn’t drop any names, the “one Platinum plaque” line could indicate that the Young Money rapper is talking about Remy Ma, who recently scored her first Platinum hit last year with “All the Way Up.”
Remy was accused of taking shots at Nicki on PHresher’s “Wait A Minute”remix back in November, and again on her recent track “Warning.” She denied that the bars were directed at Nicki during her Breakfast Clubinterview last week. “If you look at the history of Remy Ma, whenever I’ve had a problem with any female in the entire game I will say your name,” Remy said. “I do not want you sitting there thinking, ‘Oh my god, is she talking about me?’”
Later in her verse, Nicki reasserts her position as the queen of rap:
You see, silly rabbit, to be the queen of rap
You gotta sell records, you gotta get plaques
She even name-checks Kendrick Lamar and Sia, referencing their song “The Greatest”:
bytch I’m the greatest, no Kendrick and no Sia
I’m the iPhone, you the Nokia
Nicki also shared a short lyric video:
In the clip, she literally sons her competition:

On Twitter, Gucci indicated that the song will appear on his upcoming album, Droptop Wop. However, both artists share equal billing on the track, meaning it could also appear on an upcoming project from Nicki.
