He’s right. I know some of y’all (or just broke boy @ORDER_66 mainly) are just emotional and can’t think logically) but for the amount of value you get from games compared to other media for the price is pretty solid. Especially considering the budget for some of these triple A titles are three times that of block buster movies.

I guarantee you almost every single person in this thread or online would pay $100 for GTA VI at launch if it came to it. :mjlol:

I'd definitely be grumbling and acting brand new about it on the forums but I'd have Steam open in the background adding it to my cart the fukk I look like lmao.

Strictly speaking on GTAV

I haven't spent a dollar on microtransactions and feasted off the free decade worth of content they put in the game

Looking back, the game is well worth over the standard $60

He is right. Even if you ignore inflation, video games are an incredible value. A 2 hour movie gives you noninteractive entertainment for $10.

While a 50 hour mid tier, interactive game costs you 70. If games had the same cost structure per hour as movies, then the actual cost of a game should be $250 each.

I guess, but it doesn't work the other way. If I work for an employer, bust my ass and earn his company an additional $100/week, I still only get my $10/week wage, and not the full surplus of my labor.

But this really shows the problem with price caps. Companies have to find some way to increase profit margins and consumers either get progressively lower quality products, ala GTA trilogy, or they get nickled and dimed through microtransactions.

Take Two is arguably the greediest publisher in the game right now, lol at him wanting more.

It's wild that there's people in this thread agreeing with the literal king of NBA 2K microtransactions and GTA shark cards

These mf's could the price on everything to $100 tomorrow and all that extra monetization and "hamster on the wheel" GaaS shyt will still be there in full effect

I'm sure they wish they could charge hourly for playtime and have nikkas paying monthly bills that fluctuate like utilities

This

I know it sucks cause a lot of y'all didn't grow up in the pre optical media era but they are.

A 40 dollar Nintendo game in 89 is 100 bucks today

An 80 dollar SNES game in 92 is 178 today

Not to mention beating the vast majority of these games in less than an hour

And don't mention replayability CAUSE YOU HAD NO CHOICE!
Video games were expensive af back in the early 90s.
