Y'all ack like you knew the coin toss beforehand
I look at it like this. Outside of those two drives the Bucs had struggled to move the ball all game long. The Chiefs had moved the ball with ease. So to tie the game it means you have to stop the Chiefs with 30 seconds and three time outs (they got lucky on that miscommunication or Chiefs would've already been in FG range). Then if it goes to OT you have to hope to drive the length of the field again to score a TD against a D you've struggled to move the ball against or hope to stop the Chiefs as well. I'd rather take my chances on a play with a 50% chance of conversion, especially against a team that's on its heels after you just drove against them.

Easy to call it from our couches with no stake in the game :manny: .

The real mfs we need to be mad at is da mfs who decided the OT rules where the Bucs don't even get a chance to touch the ball.
Its simple math, two yards for the win or having to drive 60-70 to win with a td in OT or 35-40 yards to win with a fg,.if youre fortunate to stop them from scoring with their first drive n

The Chiefs can be had....but they still play complimentary football and make plays when it counts.

Getting Hopkins helped and will help more towards end of season and definitely playoffs.

Chiefs also gonna reach another gear in playoffs. Bills or Ravens can challenge them in playoffs but I wouldn't bet against Reid and Mahomes.

Bucs offense still did a good job especially with scheming open receivers on key drives. If they had the ball in OT....could've been a different outcome.

:childplease:

They came into the game losers of three of four with their top two wideouts injured. If this was against Tennessee or your trash ass Pats, sure, I could see playing for OT.

This is the two time defending champs with the best player in the league. That is a no-brainer go for two situation.
True and with how the Bucs OC scheme his receivers open....they may would've got it.

Teams sometimes do shyt like this against Chiefs. They don't take points when they can. Looking at other times....during Staleys time with Chargers....there were times he didn't take the FG...but Reid did at the right times. Reid got much better winning close games with chiefs especially since he got the QB he wanted and thr DC he needed...he done it during playoffs, Superbowls and regular season MANY times.

Going for 2 is for weirdos and skeezers.
This concept is.not new. Used to happen in CFB often. Tom Osborne did it in the 83 Orange Bowl with the national title on the line. As a matter of fact, in 2018, the Chargers beat the Chiefs in Arrowhead on a two point pass from Philip Rivers to Mike Williams. You know whats weird?!?, choosing not to go for the win, when you are the inferior team and your two best WR's are injured and not playing n

Additionally, in last years SB, Reid and Mahomes said they wouldve gone for two to win the Superbowl, if SF had scored a td on their first overtime posession.

I would have agreed if there wasn't so much time left. Like you said, stopping the Chiefs from getting a FG with 3 timeouts left would have been tough. So going for 2 and getting it still wouldn't have guaranteed a win. Especially because with a Tampa lead, on 4th down KC would have gone for it.

It sucks for Tampa's O that they've lost two overtime games without touching the ball

I agree going for 2 is the right move when there's very little time left for the other team to respond. The decision is more murky when there's 27 seconds left and the other team has multiple timeouts, a great offense and a great QB.

That was on him, though. He inexplicably called timeout with 30 seconds to go, when they couldve easily run it down til about 15 seconds left. Pat is an ATG, but that doesnt mean he cant be stopped in that situation. Detroit stopped him in that same situation in the 2023 opener. The LA Rams in 2018 on MNF, even the Colts in 2022. The Bills picked Pat off in Arrowhead when he had the chance to drive down 2 or 3. The focus should be on getting the lead, not prolonging the game when youre shorthanded, against a superior team. 2 yards to get a lead, or the possibility of winning a toss and having to drive 60 to 70 yards for a td? Simple choice in my opinion. The Chargers did it vs KC and the made playoffs because of it
