Because up until a few years ago, they would pretty much only cast white leads. There was a huge email leak from a studio about it a little while back. Basically Hollywood has always been built on the belief that if you cast a minority lead the movie will flop. Now that its been proven wrong time and time again, people are mad at the scales slightly changing.
