I had a PSX and a friend I was mostly friends with so I could play N64 at his house. He had Smash Bros and Mario Kart and all I had to do to play them is walk down the block? That's a friend right there.
I was lucky as hell when it came to video games growing up. I have two brothers, one a year older and one ten years older. That meant I always had someone to play games with and we got our oldest brothers hand me downs. When he got a N64, he gave us his SNES, when he got a PS2, he gave us his N64. So eventually I had PSX and N64 and PSX is easily the best of that era.
N64 is mostly a Mario and Zelda system, much like Nintendo today, they were missing most of the best third parties and all of the best new series were on PSX but not on N64. I'm talking about Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, and most fighting games. Nintendo didn't even have Final Fantasy anymore. They never had a chance.
N64 is one of the worst consoles of all time. Only great games it has that PSX doesn't is Pokemon Stadium 2 and Mario 64.
The best thing about the N64 was playing Pokemon Gold on TV. Once great series like Donkey Kong and Kirby were nothing special on N64, and there biggest series Pokemon only had spin-off games (though like I said, the Stadium games are classics).
The Gameboy and Gameboy Color were better than the N64 cause they had the main Pokemon games on them.
