This. Most of those old fairy tales and children's stories had a real sinister background story. Those stories were created for the purposes of scaring kids into good behavior or punishment.

When folks complain about reboots or do the whole “there’s no more creativity” whining.
This essentially is a reboot, we all know what the story is and know or barring a major twist knows EXACTLY how this is going to end.
To me, I never care about that, I think the same story can be told over and over, it’s just about the execution and presentation
