Injuries have robbed us of many great (or should have been great) athletes when you think about it :noah:

  • Grant Hill (Magic)
  • Baron Davis (Hornets)
  • Brandon Roy (Blazers)
  • Tracy McGrady (Rockets)
  • David Robinson (Spurs)
  • Antonio McDyess (Nuggets)
  • Greg Oden (Blazers)
  • Jay Williams (Bulls)
  • Yao Ming (Rockets)
  • Kenny Anderson (Nets)

You young clones may not know or remember this but David Robinson got hurt in 1995 the year before Tim Duncan got drafted. With him missing the season the Spurs sucked so bad they ended up getting the 1st pick and drafted Duncan.

Anyway, after that injury Robinson was never the same. Before that Robinson was one of the most dominant players in the league. Only Hakeem and Shaq were obviously better centers. Some would make a case for Ewing and Rick Smits but :rudy:

It's sad that when people always remember Robinson for how he got schooled by Olajuwon and being dunked on by Shaq but Robinson in his early years was a force to reckoned with

:heh: @ you thinking I'm an young clone. I idolized David Robinson growing up and I knew about the injuries. However, he did win championships, olympic gold medals and he's in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, injuries slowed him down, but to compare him to the guys on your list?

:comeon: breh

BTW, Robinson got injured in 1997. They drafted Duncan after that season. In '95, he was battling Hakeem in the playoffs and Duncan was still at Wake Forest.

Im no historian so i may get dates wrong. My point is dude was a beast before the injuries and was never the same afterwards.

Sean Eliott too by the way. He was no super star but dude was at least an all star before the kidney issue than BAM!

Greg Oden is attempting to return to the NBA after not playing since 2009.

Oden has received interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, amongst other teams.

Deshaun Thomas, who attended Ohio State like Oden, said on Thursday that the two have been working out.

"Man, he looks unbelievable," he said at the draft combine. "He's running. He's lifting weights. You might be seeing a comeback. He looks like he's ready to go. He's running, getting in shape. I'll tell you one thing. For a big 7-footer that's all he does, running and getting in shape. He's looking right."

Why wouldn't a team like the Heat be able to afford him? No way should he get more than the vets's minimum at only one year at that. If someone offers Greg a multi year contract with huge dollars attached, they deserve al the bad luck it will bring them.
